Sunflower Seeds

I can't eat them good. 

Can't put a handful into my mouth and spit out only shells. Generally I accidentally spit out the seed and eat the shell or just end up with a giant mass of seed and shell crunched/smooshed up in my mouth which I hack up like a cat does a hairball.  Also sometimes put a bunch in my mouth, suck the salt off, and then spit them out machine gun style.

Any good seed eaters care to share the secret? I want to look cool this summer, and nothing looks cooler than sitting casually, talking with friends and spitting sunflower seed shells onto the ground one at a time.

Can't help with the spittin' advice, I think it's just something you're born with.  But you should definitely try the bbq version, they're awesome.

Anybody ever seen somebody eating sunflower seeds one at a time and like cracking the seed with their teeth while still holding onto it with their fingers and then opening it up and taking the seed out with their hands and eating it and then toss the shell on the ground?  You have to really like sunflower seeds to do this.

get the seed sideways, along the side of your mouth. bite down, seed should open a bit. Open the rest with your tongue. Enjoy seed. Spit out shell all over clams polo.

25 is a good number. I used to stuff as many as I could in there, but limit it to 25 for that reason.

I use the same method.  If room runs out for the seed (either shelled or unshelled) on either side of my mouth, I transfer the surplus into the top, front portion of my mouth.
