NCAA tourney ticketing advice
« on: February 22, 2010, 03:08:15 PM »
Hey Wildcat friends,

If the Cats are in the West Regional and make it through the first weekend they'll be headed to SLC, UT.  That is really good for me.  I've looked on stub hub at tix for that second weekend and the prices are either outrageous, or I am simple and cheap.  Any advice on this? Do you think going through KSU athletics or trying to find them online will provide the best results?  I don't want to sit upstairs either, I'm a rockstar and deserve appropriate seating.

Rockstars have rockstar wallets. Open yours up.
I once blew clove smoke in a guy's face that cut in front of me in the line to KJ's.

You won't have any trouble finding tickets at an opening round.  Regionals only get tricky if there is a big name school who travels well (like Kentucky).  I've been to two regionals and no problems getting good affordable scalper tickets.

Best results (and cheapest tickets): scalper a minute or so after tipoff.

Gotta bump this, need input.  Are these tickets worth buying now, or would scalping tickets still be my best option?  If BYU beats the Cats tomorrow, they should be easy to get rid of, but dealing with that would suck.  The potential teams coming doesn't lead me to believe these tickets will get real expensive, but as I have never dealt with NCAA Tournament supply/demand issues, I really don't know what to expect.  Any help is appreciated.

i have to guess that going through individual schools ticket offices would be the best bet if you want good seats at a reasonable price. if it doesn't work then just buy out front before the game close to gametime. stub hub and stuff like that a week before the event are probably the most inflated out there. start calling the ticket offices of the teams that you think will be there this afternoon and find out what there plan is for tickets. get on a waiting list now if possible. on monday just call, call, call. you just need to get a little lucky and talk to the right person at the right time. stevedave called the florida tickets office early this week and got good thursday tickets through them. someone called an hour later and was told that they weren't being sold to non alumni yet. it's really just a crapshoot.

I think you'll be ok getting tickets outside before the game.

that's my hunch too but we're talking about salt lake city. all bets are off.

That is my only hesitation.  Do they allow homeless toothless people to hangout there?  If so, tickets = no problem.  If not,  :ohno:

Plenty of homeless and toothless in SLC, but I don't want to get arrested just for trying to get a good seat for a basketball game.
