Hibachi Hut doesn't seem like a trainwreck, just very slow going.  They've had small crews there for a long time.  They did hang the sign today.

Also the one thing that bothers me about this new downtown eatery fascination is parking.  On the street parking is all open with the construction done, but there aren't a lot of places to park around downtown.

Its also nice to hear of all this stuff opening in downtown since so many buildings were blighted.  Anyone have the deets on the red brick building at 4th and Houston? They've been doing a crap load of work on it.

the problem is that the hilton and the parking garage should have been switched.  Remember that garage sits on ft riley, not houston or colorado.  Sure parking for 99% of other towns this wouldn't matter, especially in a downtown district, but this is Manhattan where people expect to have parking right off Poyntz.  If I had unlimited money I would put a multi-storied garage over the lot at 5th and Houston behind the chamber of commerce.

Bestbuy parking lot is as close to Poyntz as the garage is. This also ignores the mall, which is on Poyntz. Parking won't be a problem until long after everyone on here is dead from cow aids.

Yeah because how many of you work downtown and hear people bitch about parking everyday?

I'm not saying parking in the grand scheme of things is a real issue.  I'm saying townies, which are needed to support restaurants, perceive it to be a problem.

I think Daras is switching from Phillips 66 to something else. The sign is covered up on the one in Candlewood and all the pumps have fancy TV's that show Foxnews while you pump gas now.
