bourbon and baker complaint- if you are going to be a "bourbon/whiskey place", your cheapest really shouldn't start at $5. i mean, if michelin star rated longman and eagle in chicago can have 38 different ones for $3, then surely bourbon and baker can come up w/ one or two. small complaint but a valid one i think.

man, it's so great that the downtown area is being reinvented with places like this.  any townie observations?  Other than driving through the east side on gameday, I haven't spent any time in the downtown area in the last several years.  Other restuarants/projects in the works?  Has foot traffic, activity, shopping increased?

i mean, it's slow but steady. 3 olives is moving down there and i've heard that the one guy is still planning on opening up hibachi hut down there, although i've also heard that it has been an abolute train wreck so far in terms of getting it up and going. add the new hotels (hampton garden and candlewood) that are within walking distance and i'm pretty excited for the future of the area.

also pretty excited. I think there's another couple buildings going up on the 4th and Yuma area. Can only hope it will be some elite office building with shopping/restaurants on the bottom floor.

I have heard that this and another restaurant are going in across from my office building that is getting built on the corner of 4th and Pierre.  B++ source

there are a couple of delightful little shops on ftb that i have my eyes on venturing into some day. no idea what is up w/ that gas station but i did hear that the gas station over by long park/ftb/peoples grocery is going to stop being a gas station and move to 100% taco casa instead of just the current 10% taco casa. again just what i heard and who knows, maybe i heard it in this thread!

The new Hibachi should open within the next month or so.

i just meant where did you go to eat instead of going to longman and eagle so i could silently judge you and your group. it's also like one block off of the blue line up to ord so if you took that in or out of the city then guess what? you were one block away from it. i think it's pretty great but chicago has a ton of great places.

also and i might be luking myself here but while we are on the topic of great chicago restaurants, if anyone wants a quick taste of the purple pig in chicago but doesn't want to go all the way to chicago then they can just go to 75th brewery and get the pigs ear w/ kale. the owners stole it from the p-pig as they have several other items. at least that's what they told me when when i was sitting at the purple pig five feet away from them in chicago earlier this year.

also more of a reason to move to dtmhk.

-oh hey what's up?
-oh not much. just gonna go shoot some hoops over at WW and then walk to the new brewpub for some brews and then maybe grab something at bourbon and baker before walking back home. wanna come?"
