Unconfirmed reports that Houlihans is coming back but a gE staple there may not be
Has anyone checked on Pete?

Free agent maybe back on the market huh? Also the imperial garden hurts. Best Chinese in town.
I liked their authentic stuff. I thought their Americanized stuff was trash.

A very special part of gE lore
If it is what I think it is...they'll land on their feet somewhere.

There are just a lot of stories and personalities from the early gE days that were set there.

Seems like this would absolutely be the worst time for them to close, that's if they get their meat directly from local sources.

Bamboo Buffet on Ft. Riley Blvd might be the only one left. Does HuHot count? Chinese buffets are garbage.

I was in town for an American Legion baseball tournament in high school, and after our games we went to Stroud's before heading to Carmike to catch 2 Fast 2 Furious.

For like a year or two in early 2000's. Did not do well, then became Valentino's then became putt putt place iirc.

I think the Golden Wok might have been the longest surviving business in that strip. In my lifetime there's been:

El Casadores (El Caz), Casa Agave, Los Cocos
La Hacienda
Marco Polos, Gilio's
Cafe du Qvondeyz
Golden Wok Buffet
Strouds, Valentinos, Time Out Corner (putt putt place)
Grizzly's
TW's, Porter's West, the Patio, Legend's

Am I forgetting anything in the last 30 years? How long was the vape shop there for?

Arroy Thai wasn't in the strip but I associate it with those others.

Chen's
I've had Chen's once and it was the worst Chinese food I've ever eaten. I threw away 80% of it. Their fried rice resembled wild rice. Did I just get them on an off day?

I've generally liked the Americanized stuff I've had from Tasty China House  :dunno: I liked Chinese Chef too.
