I just realized with a quick Google search that Veldt was at the old Mels. . .why did Mels shut down?

I went to Tanners and had a Fritos booga.  Can confirm they have 20 TVs.

i read the menu for karnivore and it looks pretty good and is written with a whole bunch of exclamation marks and informal speech. they are taking about pounding on yelp, but 4 reviews probably isnt a statistically relevant sample.

They made a terrible mistake by opening up full time and considering the first few weeks to be a "soft opening". The servers were learning as they went and a lot of people tried it during that time. I sit at the bar everytime so I cannot commit on the improvement or lack thereof in terms of service. But I've never had anything but an outstanding meal from there.

the new hibachi hut is open.

1) clams alert*!- the johns spicy now comes standard with a pint of milk to wash it all down. it's listed in the description of the meal and all. as if pclams needed another reason to check the new place out.
2)great decor. more cajun themed. nice bar when you walk in on the left with hightops on the right. two big flat screens behind the bar. back behind the bar area are all the original booths that were reapolstered (sp) along with the big picture of the swamp. the whole place is really, really, well done.
3)menu-similar but with some additions. everything is a dollar or two more than it was before. they feature abita on tap and have some other nola themed parts of the menu.
4)extras-there will be a basement with private room that you can schedule/maybe rent out.
5)there will be a back patio.
6)overall two thumbs up.

Ate at Thai Noodle today. Guys, please go to this place so they don't go out of business. Very good food that nobody else does in Manhattan. I had the tom yum and my lady-friend had the pho. Both were tasty. They have a pretty large menu that includes your regular Asian appetizers (dumplings, wontons, etc.), dry noodles, noodle soups and rice dishes.

Where bullchicks was.

I think you're thinking of Baan Thai.

Correct. It's owned by the Baan Thai people, however.

You right, you right. Confirmed. MHK is just lousy with Thai places these days. Feels good to be so elite. When I was a young qat I think there was just the one Thai place.
