I'm tapping out of this thread for the year. Job change, lack of time, and horribly atypical weather have stunted the crap out of my growth. It's embarrassing.

Congrats to all you farmland assholes on your crops. :dubious:

CW, did you not just see that mother nature just gave my corn crop the middle finger?

Do you think I'm just going to give up and not grow any food this year? Get back on your saddle and turn some lemons into lemonade.

Haha, I'm working on it behind the gE scenes. Haven't been able to make time for serious garden attention and the plants are reflecting that greatly.

Been weeding in the evenings as time allows, and will be fertilizing (not something I do mid year) after that's done. We'll get through this, I'm sure.

Yeah, she can already go outside anytime she wants during the day but just chills in the garage. Maybe I should stop feeding her so she has a little more desire to catch rodents?

Anyone plant a garden this year? I put some seeds in the ground in early March then spent 2 months at the cat ranch and came back to an overgrown mess.

Finally got it cleaned up and it looks like alot of carrots/mustard greens survived along with a couple heads of lettuce and the sugar snap peas.

Just threw down some lettuce/radish/spinach seeds tonight!

I’ll be expecting a care package this year since I didn’t get one last year.

I planted some radish/lettuce/greens at the cat ranch(Western KS) in late march and they sprouted but in mid april it got down to 15 degrees one night and everything except some lettuce plants died.

I'm almost all flowers this year. Planted a few cukes and poblanos, but other than that it's 1,000,000 sunflowers for me. I also built a giant raised bed butterfly garden for @MrsWonderMeal for Mother's Day that is basically a high quality Sirloin Stockade for pollinators.

Other than that, my lime/lemon trees are starting strong and fig tree got compliments from a neighbor. The wildcard this year is the pomegranate--looks like I might finally get some fruit off of it after about five years of waiting.

What kind of weather wonderland do you live in that you can grow lemon/lime trees and sunflowers? (Also i have no idea if you can grow them in tropical area's, just always assumed they were a plains state thing)

Was at my parents house today and while I was sitting outside this guy showed up. He visited about 30 flowers and was the star of the show for like 45 min.

Most of my radishes have been harvested. Put them in a pickle solution with some onions.

it's raised bed szn. basically trying to become self sufficient in veggies at least half the year.

growing 24 types of chiles in galvanized beds (including like 4-5 superhots) with a fuckton of herbs, primrose/cosmos/zinnias/borage, and garlic interspersed between pepper rows as companion/pollination plants. hot sauce/salsas incoming in july/august bayBEE

putting in two 8 x 4 wooden raised beds this weekend for onions, watermelons, lettuce, cantaloupes, and like 15 different types of tomatoes. tilling the ground here is a [redacted] but necessary because the soil's got no aeration or organic matter

direct sow on everything bc i was lazy and didn't feel like starting seeds inside back in march. also growing conditions in ABQ are far from elite kansas standards so i'd rather the seedlings just get established and sink or swim rather than have to harden them off and potentially watch them go to crap later because of some random 50 mph winds. adding drip irrigation when i'm done sowing bc we haven't had any rain in 50 years

growing crimson queen sunflowers on the western edge of the garden for afternoon shade so my plants don't get scalded to eff by the sun here. also on the northern edge for privacy from the adjacent road. growing cucumbers, taters, and squash in pots too.
