Squirrels are pretty great as long as they aren't messing with your house.  One of the most adorbs things you can have in the yard.

Until they constantly tear up your garden

veggies are cheap, you guys.  The whole myth about produce being expensive is only the case if you buy it prepared.  Like pre chopped salads.  I mean, you are probably losing money growing them yourself if you monetize your frustration and water.

its not financial. It's about summoning life from the soil and then destroying and consuming that life.

Time for everyone to post a garden update! Here's mine:

-Lime tree is going bananas. Looks great.
-Had a couple of figs off the fig tree. They were just okay.  :frown:
-Bursting at the seams with tomatoes, but I only planted two varieties and they both taste kind of bad.  :blindfold:
-Okra has taken off.
-Asparagus is in its first year, but I'm really happy with how much it has grown and am excited for next year. Same story for blueberries.
-I had cut sunflowers in my house basically every day for three weeks, but they're all gone now. It was great.
-Pepps on pepps on pepps on pepps on pepps on pepps
-I have a lot of green beans, but realized I don't really like picking them and they take up a lot of space. Will not plant again.

i'm kinda sick of tomatoes.  i may have overplanted.  plus one highly productive plant produces the worst tasting tomatoes in the entire world.  i don't pick them anymore, but for some stupid reason i still water it.  it has like 200 tomatoes hanging on it.

-Tomato plants (~20) coming along nicely
-Peppers seem to be stunted drastically from these huge storms and extensive rain
-cucumbers and squash, however, are LOVING the weather and flourishing
-potatoes were okay for a while, seem to be dying off. (Aphids!!!)
-herbs are all doing really well

Should be a huge variety of tomatoes for salsa/marinara/pizza sauce, however, not happy with the lack of pepper growth.

@Dobber - best way to (organically) kill all these Aphids on my potato leaves/stalks?!!

I've been researching and I keep getting  'd at when I add the caveat that the method of control must be organic.

Understandable, lol. But my problem is that I need a way to kill them but NOT kill the bees in the hives 50 feet away.

Spray when the bees are not actively foraging.

Something that kills aphids
Read the label. Not certain of the aphicides available in Garden Centers. Sorry I am not more help.
Don't spray when windy and do spray late in the evening or early in the morning. Bees are active during the day.

Wow, timely thread bump. I'm just finishing an addition to my raised garden.

Original was 8x4, added two 2x8 additions and one 2x4 addition.

Already replanted my strawberry plants that had been in pots, the birds were stealing everything :shakesfist:. Once i finish the fencing i will put a net over the top.

Will be planting a fall garden full of kale/mustard greens/spinach in the other 2x8/2x4.

Do you break up the soil underneath the bed or do you just build the bed on the hard ground and then add fresh soil?

(good job. looks great!)

Yes, I broke up the soil underneath the bed then filled it in with dirt from my compost pile and turned it over again.

Squirrels were raiding my garden and eating all my cherry tomatoes before they turned red.

My dad brought a squirrel trap over then I baited it with an unripe tomatoe.

12 hrs later BOOM

Lady was going nuts, really wanted to earn her second confirmed kill but i drove it a mile away and let the squirrel go.
