we have a vast forest of mint. the missus has been potting it and giving it away to people at work. they get so rough ridin' jazzed about it she thought she could pot up a ton and sell it at the farmers market.

is this a plausible business model?

yes.  you can also just harvest it, package it in bunches and sell it over and over to the same people.  don't get greedy, sell it cheap and people will be unable to resist.

work a deal to sell on consignment with someone already there.  you don't want to have to sit around the market all day yourself.

a company in LV county near me actually does this and sells it through Price Chopper for like $5 per shitty little basil pant.  LiveHerbs or someshit.

Protip:  buy it, use as much as you would normally, then pot it in a cheap pot.  You basically can't kill basil.  I didn't water mine all Winter and 25% of it is still alive.

i think basil is one of the things i bought a month or two ago to plant but never did.  i'll check the back steps and see if that sucker is still alive

what in the world?  basil (normal italian/sweet type basil) can't survive freezing temps.  it's an annual plant where cns lives.

My beans are going crazy and I had some rogue pumpkin seeds from Halloween sprout a pretty aggressive plant. Hopefully I get beans prior to pumpkin takeover

Hey guys. Hey. Guys.

I have two watermelons growing on my vine. They're so cute and li'l right now but they're about to take off, I can tell. One's almost the size of a baseball! I am basically guarding them 24/7 from my children/neighbors/punk kids in the neighborhood who probably want nothing more than to steal Old Man WonderMeal's watermelons.

Also going gangbusters (or at least doing okay): okra, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, citrus trees (!), basil, mint, blueberries, and blackberries. Doing less well, either because of age or because they didn't weather my vacation very well: butternuts, poblano/bell peppers, figs, pomegranates.

Flowers that are awesome right now include: hydrangeas x1000, gardenias, impatiens, bougainvillea, mandevilla, hibiscus, yesterday-today-tomorrow (the most EMAW of shrubs, google it), begonias.

I basically feel about gardening like Ben Ji feels about fishing. Gotta have it.

grandpaMH can barely walk or see, but he is some kind of gardening sensation. Tomatoes, cabbage, squash, all sorts of stuff just growing like gangbusters. I don't even know how he physically got everything in the ground. Crown jewel of Alta Vista.

My Snap Peas were doing just great for the first 2 months but most of them have shriveled up and died  :frown:.

I've had some planted in pots around the fence and others in my garden along the chicken wire, same deal with both. I even made sure to give them plenty of water.

Its just like they got to a certain length and said, F it, I'm out.

My peas died in infancy. Same with onions, spinach, and green onions. Tomatoes are still trucking and radishes are going gangbusters.

Might plant a crepe myrtle tree outside of my new house you guys :excited:

and maybe a few banana trees or even like a satsuma tree or something in the backyard :excited: :excited:

:don'tcare: DO NOT care about planting things like radishes. (But yours looks nice pruniraptor.)

It could be that they were over-fertilized, but I'm guessing that it's because it got too hot. Snap peas are more of a Fall/Spring or even Winter crop depending on where you live, and can be pretty fragile in Kansas summers.

What I'm trying to say is CF3's "how can I beat the heat???" thread is incredibly relevant for snap peas. Ts and Peas, Ben Ji.
