Here's the sitch: casual Friday, jeans, gray/black striped sweater.

What shoes work? Obviously not brown loafers, I have some off white Sperrys, but they seem too casual, thoughts?

get yourself a pair of desert boots - they are like the most versatile footwear ever.

TRUTH. I wear mine often.

Desert boots by who?  It's okay to share here as we'll never be near each other and wear them at the same time.
My prescience is fully engorged.  It throbs with righteous accuracy.  I am sated.

What brand of desert boots do you prefer mc?

I've had two pairs of Clark's and liked them both. They have a version that doesn't have the natural sole that isn't technically a "desert boot" - it's more durable:

I should add that I stopped wearing the traditional boot because I wore through the soles. They looked great after about two years of use.

Short of some dress shoes and having to hit that final button to wear a tie, I am really not that more or less comfortable in dress clothes than reg clothes
Yep shoes and tie really take it to the next uncomfortable level. I have a co worker who wears a tie (he doesn't have to) and still unbuttons the top button to be more comfortable, lol what. Either go all in or take that tie off. If it's after 5 and you're at the bar a little tie loosening is ok, but not at the start of the day

Sounds like an awful person.  Half committing is the worst thing you can do with fashion.

I own these very boots(not the exact ones in the pic, obv), love 'em. Very, very comfortable, and they don't stain/get dirty as easily as you would think.

Here's the sitch: casual Friday, jeans, gray/black striped sweater.

What shoes work? Obviously not brown loafers, I have some off white Sperrys, but they seem too casual, thoughts?

suede bucks
driving shoes
any boot
low top chucks if super casual

Yeah.  Get some black driving shoes.  Unless you make the investment of a lifetime in some desert boots.

Where should I look for reasonably priced chinos?  Also crewneck sweaters.

don't go to maxx, they don't have chinos at all and I'm a totes maxxinista. If you are on a budget just go to JCP or the Gap when they are having a good deal.

I went to JCP like 4 days after Christmas and it was unreal.  I was just looking for some dece sport shirts and sweaters for weekend activities.  I got 3 sport shirts for like $4 each and 2 sweaters for $8 each.  Sure, the shirts aren't the highest quality, but I'm going to be wearing a sweater over them so I really don't care.  Looking back I wish I had bought like 100 more.

Really I'm just looking for office wear.  My company has a very casual dress code.  In the interview my boss said "honestly a lot of people just wear jeans every day, I usually wear slacks though" so I'm just looking for some nice khakis that I can wear that are casual enough to wear to the bars but make me look more professional than the other people in my position that just wear jeans everyday.

BR had a lot of good options.

The Clinton tank is the best. So much detail in there with Lewinsky in a blue dress, unzipped pants, sax on the shoulder, etc. It's really not that close when you take the time to look at all of them.

all the way down to the brady bill tie-in with the mac-10 that he appears to be firing. the clinton tank is my favorite.
