Her teams the past few years have been having the same problems which seem fix-able with coaching.  Shitty blocks, fitness, poor service and one directional hitting need to change.

We got dominated by China tonight.  Very poor showing.  Team had no discipline and folded after getting down.

I know, not really a big deal.  But like I've been saying, a sport that has no prayer of ever actually making money that has had a golf course, all weather hitting building, and now new dressing rooms in a $5 million dollar clubhouse built for them . . . and they never do crap.

Plus 06 can you point me towards the financial information that says that the facility generates enough net revenue to produce a pint of piss towards funding scholarships.  There is no specific revenue section for the golf course in the foundation annual report (there is expenses of nearly $2 million dollars though).

Keep in mind the facility was basically bankrupt about 5 years ago.

Oh I know it was/is struggling. An no, I don't know where to look to see if it's producing enough revenue to fund any scholarships, just that if that ever becomes the case that's where any "profit" is supposed to go.

The big mistake was letting Colbert dictate the build up of the course though. Dumbass spent all the money making one of the "best courses in America" all the while no one realized the type of people who play those courses tend to want other amenities there as well.

The clubhouse should have been up on the list along with a hotel/spa that would actually make the course a destination place for people outside the Flint Hills. That's the biggest failure IMO, that it could have been designed and built as a resort that would not only offer a great course, but serve as an anchor to Grand Mere, and allow for an expansion to the hotel and restaurant management program at K-State.

It was also proclaimed to be the transformation of K-State golf.

The real point is K-State Golf has probably has it better than any other sport at K-State over the last few years.   Literally everything they have is pretty much brand new and really nice.   Yet, they never do anything.   It's not an important sport, but none-the-less, it would be nice if they actually did something like put a trophy in the trophy case every once in awhile.

My view of that building has somewhat softened because it is used for other classes is it not?  It's also used by multiple student organizations I believe.

Still pretty meh on both. Colbert was largely (if not entirely) funded by private donations. Hell the landowner donated the 300-plus acres to K-State. Plus when you build a LS building you need to pay for its upkeep, and, more importantly, pay professors to teach "leadership studies".

There's already an abundance of classroom space/facilities for student organizations on campus. Not sure that having another building for something the school only offers a minor in, is a wise use of funds, donate or otherwise.

At least with the golf course there's some regional draw to get people into Manhattan (you know, the "Stay and Play" that features the Clarion  ).

My point has nothing to do with the golf course being built itself, but you're being utterly disingenuous if you deny the fact that one of the "selling" points for the course besides giving the Vanier family exclusive development rights was to enhance and improve the K-State men's and women's golf program.   Plus, as I recall, there was athletic department personnel involved in helping to raise the money for the course. 

If the goal was just to have a course to teach golf course management or maintenance, then why did the athletic department bother soliciting hundreds of thousands of dollars of donations for things to be used exclusively by the men's and women's golf teams? 

It seems rather odd to go to that trouble given all the other things needed by revenue generating sports at K-State, and then turn around and have essentially no expectations whatsoever.
