Obama OKs use of armed drone aircraft in Libya

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama has approved the use of armed drones in Libya, authorizing U.S. airstrikes on ground forces for the first time since America turned over control of the operation to NATO on April 4.

It also is the first time that drones will be used for airstrikes since the conflict began on March 19, although they have routinely been flying surveillance missions, Defense Secretary Robert Gates told reporters at a Pentagon briefing Thursday.

what i don't get is why so many conservatives on here and elsewhere that supported our actions under Bush react so negatively when a perceived liberal carries out similar actions*?  wouldn't it be a positive if Obama was possibly wrong about some foreign policy issues (gitmo, afghanistan) and has changed/softened his stance?

Beause conservative spent 8 years hearing how awful Bush was for Iraq/afghan/Gitmo.  Turns out Obama is just as aggressive/blood thirsty as Bush.  i love him for it.  He will eff up any country that even dares look at him sideways.  Nobody will eff with us because Obama will go to war with them ASAP.

What I don't get is how every single liberal (and most of the rube independents) that voted for this narcissistic sociopath has completely forgotten that his entire campaign for "change" was based on "changing" this policy, how awful George W Bush was for implementing this policy, how it was unjust, criminal and evil, how it ruined our image across the globe, and how 'merica needed to rebuild that image, and how Obama was the guy do it.

Now all they can say is, "well Bush did the same thing".  Yeah he did, and you assholes called him a murderer and demanded he be put on trial, and a whole bunch of other stupid crap.  Now, you don't care, or attempt to distinguish the policies by pointing out trite dissimilarities.

War is detestable for numerous reasons, but if you have to do it, don't get into a situation where you have to occupy a damn country.

I'd prefer we not bomb Libya, but as long as we don't invade and occupy, I'll live with it.

Iraq was a monumental screw up because it was a gigantic waste of money and lives.  Afghanistan is a screw up because there is no possible way to win there.  At least we have learned to just bomb people with drones and not set up shop with tens of thousands of soldiers.

All of the rest of the talk is stupid.  Every President is going to bomb somebody.  I just want one that will shoot a bunch of missles and not try to get involved in a ground war that ultimately leads to occupation.
