Yeah, I think Minneapolis has a good chance to knock out St. Louis.

v happy with stl and miami.

I don't want Miami, but I have come to terms with the fact that it is a 98% chance of happening.

I wonder how much these all depend on summer schedule vs. winter schedule. Miami is going to happen most likely. It will be balls hot in Miami in June-August. If the MLS switches to a European style schedule that would fix that problem. But if they do that it would be freezing in Minneapolis in November-February. So that probably cuts them out. St. Louis would be a smart choice, creates an instant rivalry, has good high school and college soccer in the area. eff Atlanta and pro sports in that city, if they really want to get into the Southeast they should put it in Carolina because like St. Louis they have strong college soccer programs (plus they could put it in Raleigh and market towards the college crowd if they switch to a European schedule). A third team in Texas would further encourage a winter schedule.

My guess is Miami, St. Louis and Atlanta and switch to a winter schedule by 2017 (so not to conflict with the 2018 world cup)

good point on weather in mpls if they switch to euro season - that unfortunately makes it a bit of a tough sell there.  no idea what the costs are for an enclosed mls-size stadium - i'm sure there's plenty of examples out there, but only one i can think of off the top of my head is where fc copenhagen plays?

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

Mpls would be great for me. Wouldn't they play in the Metrodome? The Vikings are leaving for their own stadium so the dome will need a tenant and the Mpls franchise can reconfigure it.

Gunnars. Yes. When do they win the trophy? Don't they have this mathematically wrapped up?

You're an Arsenal fan? I was not aware.

sorry bro but that football turf they play on is a disgrace to the game, worse than Just For Kicks facility in Lenexa

The relevance is only if they flip the schedule, they can't/shouldn't. We already have 9 franchises (RSL, COL, Crew, PHL, NY x2, NE, MTL, and TOR) where the hard winter could legitimately. Europe doesn't have to deal with that, the Scandinavian nations, that have climates similar to that of the northern NA cities play the same schedule as the MLS.

They need a soccer specific stadium. Doesn't mean you take away the team. You know what was a rough ridin' "disgrace to the game"? The Kansas City Wizards playing on a miniature field in the outfield of a minor league baseball stadium.

Also, Seattle and Portland play on turf. Are they a disgrace? Was it a disgrace when the Wizards played in Arrowhead?

Yes, sometime back in the beginning of this thread I posted this. I don't follow as close as most of the regulars (like sd), but I worked in a global business where all of my counterparts were big EPL/ European Soccer fans. We watched matches on tv prior to dinner at most meetings. I had to pick a team to make it interesting. My son is Man U.

You should post here more often. We're missing an Arsenal fan. :D

well gee we can talk about wrong things that occurred in the past or just focus on the present
don't be such an obtuse New England fanboy, oh well guess it's good we find out where your true MLS allegiance is

maybe we can get our Old Stadium a franchise, would really put NE to shame.

If you think New England is embarrassing, you're a dumbass. Yes, I wish they didn't play in a football stadium they can't fill, but they do. Their attendance numbers are fine. About 15k. Just looks like no one goes. That club is headed in the right direction. Chivas isn't, and they are the only team out of 19 that isn't.
