Not to be out spent by Palace and WBA. We had obvious gaps in depth at striker and in defenders, we sold a club legend and still world class keeper to a title contender in our league, in our city. We limped to the finish line last year and have no depth we should have spent to improve quality just to be able to compete in Europe. Also crap started to hit the fan while the summer window was open, the board chose not to try to fix it when they still could.

Who cares? The board should not be using being favorites to win the league as reasoning to not improve the squad. Fact of the matter is most cases in European leagues the more you spend the higher you finish in your league.

You're playing the result. You didn't post this objection in August because you and everyone else thought Chelsea was the third or fourth best team in the world. It's easier to spend someone else's money given five months of retrospect.

if United was in Chelsea's shoes with a net spend amount of £40m you'd be bitching too, anyone would.

No I wouldn't, not if we were supposed to be the best team. You're acting like they can't spend, they didn't because there was little incentive to spend. It's not like Chelsea is destined to a fate of penny pinching, they'll probably spend more than any other club in 2016. Also if you don't think Jose had a large role in the lack of money spent you're kidding yourself. That guy thinks he could manage 20 of us to the Europa quarters.

Yes you would. Also when is the last time United or any of the "top" English clubs spent that little over two transfer periods?also Lol no he was vocal about wanting players and the board didn't do it. No we will not be penny pinching but we also won't spend more than any other club because we won't be in UCL so we will sell off players like Hazard and Oscar this summer and we won't be bringing in any of these world class high £ tag players with no Europe

When your team is the equivalent of the Rays, listening to the Yankees, Dodgers, and Red Sox argue about spending is very  :jerk: worthy
