who wouldn't want oscar?  the guy destroyed one of kansas' best teams with like 2 scholarship players and a bunch of walkons.  The man can coach.

If he has no show clause, we could fire Frank for all I care.  oscar Pearl is the best coach we could realistically hope to get and retain at this point.

I'd take Pearl if it wasn't for the fact he'd be here 2 years max, just long enough for his stench to wear off and some other bigger name school to come in and swoop him up.  He'd be searching for a new job before his first season even started.  He'd probably make his two years here very exciting and competitive, but we'd be right back to looking for another coach in no time.  And you never know, maybe Calipari would be run out of Kentucky by that point for all his dirty deeds and we could hire him for a 1 year stint.

:flush:

How about we stay good as long as possible and worry less about how long a coach is going to be here, ok?

I'm not saying I would turn Pearl away, but let's be real here. There's next to no way Pearl would get hired, connection to Currie or not.  The only way it would happen is if Martin left and Currie struck out with every other possible coach candidate.  Look Pearl would be great for those 2 years, but eventually that pipeline of uber talented coaches with checkered pasts is going to dry up.
I wasn't advocating hiring Tom Asbury 2.0 if it means he'll stay longer, but explore the options.

What you're suggesting is to either gamble with an unproven coach that could send us back to the dark ages (or succeed too) or get a proven coach that will in all likelyhood win a lot and then leave. The problem with this is that the gamble could leave too if he does well. Just get the best you can and hope they like it at KSU. If they don't like it, then you've won some games, improved tradition, and have more talent on the roster when they leave.

I would rather be Awesome Cheating Coaches Rehab/Re-imaging U(ACCRRU) than take a flier on an Asbury mid-majory type.  Even if that meant we go through this every 2-4 yrs.

Yeah, and everyone acts like there won't be a good "scorned" coach next time. But there always is. Always.

Would love for K-State to be scorned coach U.   Guaranteed relevance and get a proven winner.   Love it.
