The weird thing is I have no idea why the AD was/is so supportive. I suppose because he hired Rice. In 3 years Rice is 44-51 and 16-38 in the Big East; that should have made an easy decision even easier.

simple reason is because he's inexperienced.  it's pernetti's first AD job.  before rutgers, he was in a sales/business development job at CBS College Sports Network.  before that he was programming director for ABC Sports.  that's it.  he was in no way qualified for the position in the first place and now is probably going to lose his job because of how he handled this shitstorm.

I feel like his experience shouldn't matter. If god forbid I was hired as a 22 year old AD and this crap went on, it's an easy decision. He's fired.

your inexperience is showing

The "why didn't the player hit him back" people are Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!).

"Why didn't the player hit him back" is the wrong way to look at it. How didn't anyone is a better question. You act like someone getting their nose broken has to be some kind of premeditated act. If someone threw a ball at me and called me a rough ridin' man of taste and distinction its hard for me to imagine that I wouldn't lose my temper.

In some aspects, they have more to lose than their coach. If an 18 y/o strikes back at a coach, that follows him forever. That kid will always be known as the player who hit a coach. He'll be labeled as uncoachable. It could ruin his career.

A coach puts his kids through hell until one day some kid snaps, and he'll spin it as a wild young kid with an attitude problem. He'll get a second chance.

I get that, the point is that one day Mike Rice or his ilk is going to catch a kid on a real bad day and the conscious thought about not kicking the coaches ass won't enter the players mind. Its also worth noting that these coaches that do this are bullies and are less likely to do this to a Demarcus Cousins/Marshall Henderson type.

Latrell Spreewell choked PJ Carlismimo(SP) in practice for getting in his face.  Every time I see him or hear his name, it's the first thing that comes to mind and that was like 15 yrs ago.  It all happened in the NBA, so obviously Latrell was not in the same kind of career danger as a college kid.  That said, it still follows him with the ppl that paid attention back then.

Side note, my impression of this incident was that Latrell and PJ are both probably the type of personality that doesn't mix with others.  It's not a harsh view of Latrell.

I'm pretty sure being Puerto Rican also means you are latin, could be wrong though.

It's a quote.  I think it was Dave Armstrong.  He got Twitter blasted by the latin community and apologized to La Raza or something.

I went to a soccer camp when I was 10 and some older kids stole our stuff out of the locker room. So later that night the kids they found with our stuff were sat in the parking lot while the coaches took turns trying to hit them with free kicks. Probably not good, but since they stole our stuff we were all

That's a really strange story.

He's the type to call someone a man of taste and distinction, or pussy, or $!#* and then call the cops after he got his ass kicked.

Quote
Wally Judge, a junior current Rutgers player, had transferred from Kansas State, where he said the practices were harder. He said he didn't think Rice's language was inappropriate, and the coach never put his hands on him.

BITB didn't really say that though, did he? He referenced not being able to scream "man of taste and distinction" specifically?
