I got in trouble a lot by my coach for Tiger Woods upper cutting after striking puds out. I really liked to let my dick flop afterwards. My head coach called me every name in the book for these actions. I've seen it all!

that never happened
Oh, but it did!  :gocho:

No, it didn't.

I went to a soccer camp when I was 10 and some older kids stole our stuff out of the locker room. So later that night the kids they found with our stuff were sat in the parking lot while the coaches took turns trying to hit them with free kicks. Probably not good, but since they stole our stuff we were all

This guy sounds like my JUCO baseball coach, except instead of basketballs they were baseballs hit at us a few times.  He even told one our of assistants one time to stay between him and one of my teammates because he might punch him in the face.

(side note: this was after we had a parents weekend and he told us not to be stupid on our time off, said teammate got a DUI that night, but thats beside the point)

@RealCJ10 Hey, dumbass: You're whining about a story that's not on Deadspin written by a guy who does not work for Deadspin. FYI.

This. Being a prick coach to high school kids is dumb. Says a lot about the coach.

Old school in my day . . . forearm shivers for not calling out picks, rebound fight drill, basketballs at the back of the head for not finding the ball in defensive transition . . . football:  fight drill, kicks in the butt, facemask grabbing (none of this happened to me FYI) etc. etc. et. al. and what have you.

I don't think that's the same as throwing basketballs at your players faces out of pure frustration.

Wally Judge, a junior current Rutgers player, had transferred from Kansas State, where he said the practices were harder. He said he didn't think Rice's language was inappropriate, and the coach never put his hands on him.

I don't know, a basketball drilled at the cerebral cortex region is not a pretty thing IMO.

Yeah.  It's an uphill battle to recruit to Rutgers all else being equal.  Now with this out there he's as good as sunk even if they wanted to keep him.  ESPN just did every other rival coaches' negative recruiting for them.  What a rough ridin' lunatic.  The best part is that he rough ridin' knew this crap was being recorded and he still did it.
My prescience is fully engorged.  It throbs with righteous accuracy.  I am sated.

No, not at all. But I read that like they would do it to get your attention and not to harm you.  If it was to harm you then yeah, that's mumped up.

Trying to use such physical intimidation to build players up to be a competitive team seems extraordinarily counter productive. Never understood this method.

Someone said this on twitter and I thought it was great. Tough, angry coaches use their methods as ways to motivate, Rice used his methods as a weapon.
