I know it's just speculation at this point, but how much will KSU make per year, and how does that compare to other conferences?

So, basically, Fox just agreed to pay $2 million per football game.  For the 40 shittiest games.   ESPN still gets to pick the 18 best games.

 :horrorsurprise:

Tell me again why we have bowls?

The total payout to all schools that played in the five BCS bowls this year was $180 million.

The Big XII just sold their worst 40 games for $90 million.  20 of those 40 games weren't even considered worth the trouble to televise in the previous contract.  Think about that for a while.

For 2012-2013:

18 best football games + essentially all basketball = $60 million  <-- will stay the same through 2015-2016
40 football games after the best 18 are cherry picked = $90 million

In 2016-2017 it is conceivable that the Big XII could be bringing in $500+ mill per year.

Thank you Texas.

This will destroy any parity in college athletics.  The BCS is suddenly completely irrelevant.  We're going to see coaches making $10+ million per year and assistants in the $1-$2 million range at many schools.

Insane.

Is this the "total" B12 revenue deal, or is this just part of it?  If it is I understand that this is a substantial increase, but seems small in comparo to the SEC and B10 deals.  Just trying to clarify here.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Nevermind

"With this deal, media-rights money would equal or surpass the income of Big Ten and Southeastern Conference schools because it would be added to the $60 million annually the Big 12 receives from ABC and ESPN for first-tier games."

  but with B12/ KSU dudes

This is the secondary package.  The football games that aren't on the 2:30 ABC spot or ESPN primetime or any of the basketball games that are on ESPN/ABC.

The Big XII was making $20 mill per year on the secondary stuff and $60 mill per year for the "Tier 1" games.  Will now make $90 mill per year on the secondary games but still $60 mill on the Tier 1.  The Tier 1 contract expires after 2015-2016 and will obviously go for a lot more than either $60 or $90 million when it is redone.  Around $300 million seems reasonable for the next Tier 1 contract, but maybe more by then.

For comparison, the ACC signed a deal last May for all football and basketball with ESPN for 12 years at $155 million per year.  They were giddy because they were at $65 million before that.  The Big XII was at $80 million ($20 for secondary+$60 for Tier 1).  The SEC has a 15 year deal that started in 2009 for $205 million per year.  Both of those conferences split the money between 12 teams.

What today signaled is that the Big XII will make $150 million in 2012-2016 and then possibly somewhere in the $400 million range after that.  Certainly way more that $205 million.  And that is split between 10 teams.

This is a big deal.

So, there's like zero incentive to add any more teams?  Hate to be this guy but: do we ever bother changing the name of the conference?

I've been saying this since all the realignment talk (I'm not the only one, I know). Expansion will end up proving a fruitless endeavor UNLESS you can haul in a real cash cow. Otherwise you are just watering down money pot. There are so very few cash cows out there. ND is probably the only realistic one available and they won't go anywhere unless something changes that forces them to (ie - playoff in football where only conference champions are included).

OK Cat, what was the "bumpy" rumor you heard a while back?  Was it ATM going to SEC and UT going indy?  Go ahead and let it our now it is all over   :kstatriot:

was told that A&M thought they were being treated unfairly and were still shopping around....and that they set their own deadline of the end of May.  Had that happened, the other south teams were ready to jump ship to various places...but since that didn't happen, everybody is staying put.

Would need ND and another.  That way we gain in TV's and get our champ game back.

Fox just picked up Tim Brando.  Sounds like he might be calling games.  Good pickup for potential Cats games.

(I posted this earlier, but either I posted in the tech thread or a mod moved it.)
I got a guy on the other line about some white walls
