Why do I have to see them to appreciate them and want them to exist? What percent of the population has ever seen an angel? Seems like people would be against killing angels.

And I agree that they shouldn't hunt over their quota, but these Whale war people think they are Gods given right to the environment by harassing people trying to make a living

I cant' get behind the "trying to make a living" argument.

I don't particularly love whales, but I'm against any kind of animal killing that isn't about conservation (e.g. Ducks Unlimited, etc.). My personal opinion about the people hunting them is that they are NOT worthy to breath the same air as the rest of us....but there's a solid chance that I'm nuts.

New season rolling. Think it's totally fascinating to watch those rejects out there putting human lives at risk. I cannot believe their actions haven't resulted in a whole bunch of ppl dying yet. Tooling around Antarctica in a boat is no joke. If they were harassing anybody but the Japanese somebody would have already shot a few of those tools.

Wait they sunk somebody's boat? Now that would be some good tv. Every time I've watched they've done a whole lot of nothing. Show kinda sucks.

No they are actually operating under a very open international treaty. Couldn't say how many total whales they are slaughtering but it's based on bigtime agreed-upon international pact.

As I understand it the International Whaling Commission or whatever told them to cut down the amount of whales they are killing each year, but who is going to enforce it? And yes there was a law/treaty signed in 1984 or around then that outlawed whaling completely once they realized that there would be no whales left if nothing changed. But again, nobody could enforce it.

No crap, the TV show is great entertainment and whether you like their cause or not, why all the hate? If they love the whales that much, and the Japanese are breaking the law then I don't see why they can't go take it into their own hands if nobody else is going to.

The IWF outlawed all forms of whale hunting. Japan has spent 100s of millions to keep dolphins and porpoises from bening included in the ban, cause they want to kill as many of those as possible. The IWF does allow around 1000 whales to be harvested per year for "research." Guess what they get to do with whales after the "research" them? Sell them for up to 100 grand each. eff the Japanese.

Sorry, it's IWC, not IWF. Also, I get text updates from them an apparently Japan has bought enough votes from 3rd world countries, because the ban is expected to be overturned this month.
