Spring 2011 tidbits
« on: April 09, 2011, 02:09:47 AM »
nothing major or anything but ive heard some things on the following players:

Bryce-was told hes a "freak" just blown away with his speed, size, and athletic ability
Arthur-one word...STUD!
Harold-looks healthier then a year ago
Meshak- he might be listed on the roster as 231, but i was told this kid looks bigger then that listed weight. I asked my guy how big he thought he looked, he thought 240+ (In my opinion Meshak might be a "lighter" type DE but hes gonna play bigger then his listed weight on the roster)
Tuggle-looks good and is physically a big dude!
Demarcus Robinson-looks solid
Harper looks much better then a year ago at WR
Finally BJ Finney looks like he may be fighting for playing time.

back to base 4-3 Snyds tired of getting rocked by the run.  Figured the next thing after intense physical pain after screw ups and hiring a new secondary coach, is to change schemes. (i don't think it matters if the same dipshit is running things)

I haven't heard anything but positives for Tuggle.. Seems like he's fitting in, too. My source said Bryce didn't show for one 7 on 7 all off season, while Demarcus made all of them.. But he told me yesterday that Bryce has really turned it on so far in the spring.. Similar to harp last year (except he didn't turn it on till fall practices). Arthur meanwhile has been non-stop dedication.

Back to Tuggle, Really strong arm.. Very accurate and has good feel of reading routes and hitting receivers on time. Can make the tough throws too with good touch. Also, like Fatty said, surprisingly big. Really quick first few steps but doesn't max out with a lot of speed.

If a Carson Coffman led K-State can put up 33 points a game, then a Justin Tuggle led K-State can probably do 40.  Bill is an offensive wizard, and everyone who isn't a deprecating Snyd's hater is well aware of that.  Now, if we could only do something about the defense...  :firecoshbanner:

Interesting to hear that about Tuggle because all the anti-tugites we saying he was inaccurate and did not have a strong arm.  Hmm.

I never heard arm strength as an excuse.  I did hear accuracy and decision making.

I always thought that we were going to go back to a Beasley style offensive philosophy where Tuggle would run a lot for short-to-medium gains and throw a lot of deep balls (hoping that YPC was high enough to offset a low completion percentage).

I still think that's how it's going to go.  I highly doubt we see a lot of medium distance routes this year.  However, the one thing Tuggle will be able to do is throw the ball deep enough to put it on the table as a weapon.  We'll still throw a crap ton of out routes and curls to the outside, but unlike CCQ, we'll throw it deep several times a game to keep the defense honest and maybe score a cheap TD or two if they're sleeping.

Going to be a lot of Tuggle hate on the board this season when he can't live up to the unreasonable expectations that have been heaped upon him.

Compared to... Freeman and Bishop, yeah not as strong. But for a D-1 quarterback I would guess it's average at worst. Definitely better than Carson.

If we move to the 4-3, I'm betting he starts at Mike.  Arthur at Will and Childs or Walker at Sam.

I'd like to agree, but do we really have that many options of guys that have legitimate 'stretch-the-field' speed?
Don't get me wrong, we have some solid receivers, but I can't think of any burners in the mix that can get open by just running vertical routes.

I feel sorry for Tuggle. He will never be able to live up to the lofty expectations set forth by our fans. Everyone expects him to obliterate Carson's performance last year, and Carson might end up on an NFL roster.
