I think we should add alcoholics like Larry Eustacy.  Would prefer the next Huggins or Eddie Sutton over somebody who will get us on probation.

When has probation ever hurt a program? I mean seriously.

Indiana?

I think they were only on probation when Sampson was there and they only suck because all of Sampson's recruits left and Crean couldn't replace them.

I think they got 3 years probation when Sampson left, but I agree with you for the most part. A good coach can overcome probation. It really isn't a big deal.

And Theus would really be a great hire. He was an outstanding recruiter at NMSU (Fred Peete, Herb Pope, Tony Gillespie (who actually came later, but whatevs)).

Plus, that face!

If Coach Martin leaves...and I don't think he will, it would be a HUGE mistake if Currie hires anyone besides Brad Underwood.
#1...He's a Kansan with character and very admired in the state by fellow coaches (high school and JUCO
#2 He's a K-State grad and bleeds purple
#3 This would be his dream job and he wouldn't ever leave
#4  He would keep next years team (and potential recruits Jones and Watson) in tact.
#5 He's a very bright bench tactician who's had nearly as much to do with K-States success as Frank Martin, certainly more than Delonte Hill (although I would hope we could keep him and the strength coach )
#6 and most importantly, he would keep this program, style of play and IDENTITY in place (toughness, defense, rebounding...ie the system is already in place.

Starting all over with a Shaka Smart or Brad Stevens would be a HUGE roll of the dice. Keep the Huggins system in place, it's a proven winner.

a super big piled high double serving of qft for my man cd33 on this one. just the innovative and imaginative offense alone is worth trying to make a run at underwood. think warren moon and the houston oilers but on a basketball court.

i wasn't sold on underwood at first (isn't he an aau guy?), but if he can keep jones and watson, then i think we probably have to make that call.  you can't win without players and it sounds like he will push the right buttons.

Jacob Pullen is to Frank Martin as Acie Law was to Billy Gillispie.  Now that Pullen's gone, Frank's "coaching ability" will be exposed for what it really is.  This could actually be a blessing in disguise for K-State.

Jake wasn't always "Jake".  "Jake" was only an All-American for two years of his four year career.

Frank has taken almost four completely different looking teams and finished in the top four of the Big 12 every single year, won over 20 games every year, and been to the NCAA tournament three times (winning at least one game each time).  The guy can coach.  I don't know why people seem to think otherwise.

He's no oscar Pearl.  Oh, and congrats on going from preseason top three to a double digit loss, fringe top 25 team who got bounced in the 2nd round.  Really impressive.  I hope you guys keep Frank around for a long time.

Academics is a stupid word.

Academic schools are synonymous for being rich, powerful and exclusive, three things Kansas State is not.

So when people throw the word "academics" around, that's really what they are referencing.

They played twice, and KU won the first game, 90-66, just in case you forgot.  But yeah, when Pullen went off for 38 points and hit over 50% from 3-point range, Frank looked like a pretty good coach.
