On February 13, 1994, Chaney threatened to kill then-University of Massachusetts Amherst coach John Calipari at a post-game news conference, where Calipari was speaking at a podium. Chaney entered the conference mid-speech, calling him an "Italian son-of-a-bitch," accusing Calipari of manipulating the referees. When Calipari attempted to respond to the accusations, Chaney yelled, "Shut up...!", and proceeded to charge the stage, before being stopped by security. While being held back, Chaney shouted, "When I see you, I'm gonna kick your ass!" As security restrained Chaney, he repeatedly yelled, "I'll kill you!" and angrily admitted telling his players to "knock your rough ridin' kids in the mouth."[6] Chaney received a one-game suspension for the incident.[7] The two coaches later reconciled. Chaney praised Calipari's coaching ability and defended him over the Derrick Rose controversy at the University of Memphis.[8]

Close enough.

I was a big UMass guy back then, even had a final four shirt, but that was funny as hell and Chaney became my second favorite coach that day, Billy Tubbs.

I'm certain everyone has seen both videos, just in case though.

Bobby Knights temper tantrums are probably about as close as the big10 has for a precedent. Throwing chairs isn’t in the same conversation as taking a swing at an opposing coach, but both are unbecoming and something the university would very strongly prefer their head coaches abstain from doing

I had to watch like 5 times in amazement how long his arms are when he bitch slapped that guy in the head. He has a crazy long reach.

The most interesting part of this whole thing to me is the Big 10 and Michigan's opinion of themselves. 

Like I said, we're a perfect fit.

Will be interesting to see what the Big 10 and Michigan imply the precedent for a coaching hitting an opposing coach SHOULD be.  Is this the behavior of a "Michigan Man?"  Is the behavior of a Leader and/or Legend?  We'll see!

I still want to know what Krabbenhoft said, whatever it was it's wasn't to Juwan but it was enough to make him lose his crap. As mad as he was with Gard, he wasn't close to slapping him.

Saw Juwan's apology tonight on ESPN. He's a good man and a good Michigan Man imo. He's earned his dues in the basketball world.

He's a young coach and will rise above pettiness in time. He's got a great opportunity to leave a fantastic legacy started as a player and fulfilled as a coach.

I'd like to see Wisc and Mich meet in the B10 tournament. These guys are all men. They'll bury the hatchet.
