National hero Beth Mendenhall was at the game last night. She and the other debaters were honored, but out Beth was specification mentioned, kinda sucked that she wasn't wearing a goEMAW shirt though.
Addressed EMAW/EPAW on Powercat Gameday Reply --------------------------------------------------------------------------------I then met the people behind EPAW. At first she said she didn't want to tell people to stop using EMAW and then later admitted that was their goal. The fact that I wouldn't agree with her led to her calling me "disrespectful" and her friends implying I was like a 1920s racist and sexist. Oh, she wants to get away from the use of the word "mankind" too.She said the university is moving away from it because of student feedback such as hers, but then admitted she's an alumnus. Oh, and telling her I don't appreciate her "politically correct" application to school traditions caused her to say I was trying to demean her.They then threatened the radio stations for putting me on the air, but I ended the conversation with grace. I slapped her on the butt and said, "Nice talk, babe" and walked away.

Got an email this morning about EMAW. It was from my new bestest buddy Beth. She, of course, claims that my account of our conversation was inaccurate. I informed her that it was -- and there are plenty of radio station personnel that will back that up -- of course for the ending. I, as I knew I would if someone on her shared my post with her, had to explain that was humor but I didn't expect her to grasp it in her sad, angry world.I went on to thank her for galvanizing my opposition to the change, but I resisted telling her that I think Every Penis a Wildcat is far worse and I oppose the use of EPAW on those grounds.
