Anschutz's father was a land investor who invested in ranches in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming, and eventually went into the oil-drilling business. Anschutz's grandfather, Karl Anschütz, emigrated from Russia and started the Farmers State Bank in Russell, Kansas. Anschutz bought out:jerk: ) his father's drilling company in 1961.

Political and Christian activism

Often identified as "Christian billionaire Phil Anschutz", he is a Republican donor who supported George W. Bush's administration. He has been an active patron of a number of religious and conservative causes:

- Helped fund Colorado's 1992 Amendment 2, [b}a ballot initiative designed to overturn local and state laws that prohibit discrimination against individuals on the basis of sexual orientation[/b] but was invalidated by Romer v. Evans after it passed.

- Helped fund the Discovery Institute, a think tank based in Seattle, Washington that promotes intelligent design and criticizes evolution.

- Supported the Parents Television Council, a group that protests against television indecency.

- Financed and distributed films with Christian themes, such as Amazing Grace and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, for mass audiences through his two film production companies and ownership of much of the Regal, Edwards and United Artists theater chains.

- Financed The Foundation for a Better Life.

- In 2009 Anschutz purchased the conservative American opinion magazine The Weekly Standard from Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation.

And Richard Meyers commanded the most powerful Army in the history of man (and is also now a part-time professor at KSU).

If you want to, we can keep comparing dicks.  Or you can go back to posting pictures of trees.  Either or.

How does Anschutz's politics/religion change the fact that he's got more money than K-State's entire alumni base combined?

Anyone have an explanation for why KU's endowment is over triple that of K-State's?  Also, why is KU's athletic budget nearly double that of K-State's?  TIA.

Any ku fan who's upset about the scientific data that's been gathered by the KC Star should simply work harder and make more money and help raise ku's averages.  Show some accountability, you know?  That, or don't admit to being a ku fan after you've checked the $30-35K box.

If ku's athletic budget was nearly double K-State's it would be over $90 million dollars, instead it's about $65 million, not even close to doubling K-State.

In addition, unlike ku athletics, K-State athletics doesn't count capital giving as operating revenue, so the $16 million raised to build the BTF won't be counted as annual revenue for K-Stae athletics.   Giving to the Ahearn Fund last FY was over $16 million dollars.   K-State athletics sells more suites and club seats than ku athletics, and is in the planning stages of a $50 million dollar plus new press box and suite facility on the west side of BSFS.  Meanwhile the "Gridiron Club" is completely stalled and the track facility at ku is completely on the back burner, going into year 7 . . . and still waiting on that.

KU's athletic budget is around $78 million, while K-State's is around $45 million.  Like I said... nearly double, Mr. Invalidator in Chief.

Then ku's athletic budget is nearly $4 million dollar MORE than the made in total revenues in FY 2010 dumbass.   So you're telling me that ku's operating budget for FY 2011 increased by nearly $15 million dollars?  Not a chance.

Pffffftttttt.... the sun's out and it's about 60 degrees today.  Absolutely beautiful here.  I can't decide if I want to go to the coast this weekend, or do some skiing at Mt. Hood.  Tough choice.

and yet you'll probably sit at home and read goEMAW for 12 hours tomorrow.

KU's athletic budget ranked 11th in the nation after the '08 season.  Regardless, it's still significantly higher than K-State's, Captain Butt Hurt.

You pulled a number straight out of your ass per usual, "nearly double K-State's" it's not even close to being double K-State's, plus do I have to give you another lesson in how the various athletic departments do their account differently.

The only one who is butt hurt is you Ben.  You're completely  :curse: over the KC Star article that's why you're in complete validation mode.

Why can't you just accept that K-State has one of the poorest athletic departments/alumni bases in the Big 12?  It's actually kind of impressive that you guys can still compete with Big Bro from time to time, considering how poor you are.

Yet the so called poorest fanbase fills twice as many suites than ku has has thousands more club level seats sold than ku has, and is the planning stages to add even more suites and a second stadium club.    Keeping talking out your ass Ben.

Yeah Big Bro K-State finally motivated Lil Bro ku to do something about football, and it paid off for a little bit, now Big Bro K-State is back to stomping a mud hole in Lil Bro ku on the gridiron again.
