Frank Martin show
« on: March 02, 2011, 08:32:10 AM »
Did anyone catch the Frank Martin show last night?

It was the first one I heard any of all year. Frank was having some sort of problem hearing Wyatt and said:
"This is ridiculous Wyatt. It's the same thing every week.", or something to that effect.
They went to a comercial and I missed part of the show. When I was able to tune back in Frank was gone and Underwood and $400K had taken Franks place.
It was great to hear Frank rip Wyatt about how bad the show was going while he was on the air.
Anyone know what was going on?

On another note the callers to that show are the worst.

Just a guess, but Frank was probably trying to do the show from his home (since he had surgery today) on the phone and the audio wasn't working for him. Underwood and Hill were probably at the location and took his place after that.

It got even better (worse?) when the old hick who called in asked half a dozen questions (including whether the coaches that Potuzak could develop into a solid center) and took 10 minutes of the show. Next guy asked about "Franks sideline intensity".

I hope Frank is learning to not let stupid loser small town Kansas walkons participate anymore or it just blows up in his face.  He tries to do something nice, and now no one will leave him alone about the kid who sucks.

Guy also had no idea how to say Potuzak's name.

Hill had to be laffing inside and thinking that there's no way he plays all while he's telling the guy he'll be a good player next year.

Don't these people know that he's become a novelty?  I appreciate that the kid works hard in practice, has no scholarship, etc etc, I just don't want to ever have a team so sucky that he's in the game beyond trash time.

I was in my car at the time, and when he actually asked that about Potuzak, I literally looked at my console and yelled, "STFU."

Our fans are an embarrassment.

They mumped up from the start by not putting that kid's hometown in the media guide as somewhere in Croatia or Lithuania or something.  He got the name for it.  If they had done that these old Adolph Rupp farts would just be writing him off as a bust and all this would be avoided.

Just add "distant relative of Ivan Sulic" and everything would be fine.

When Frank was yelling at Wyatt, it was in reference to the whole feed from the show going down. I happen to be in the car at nights on Tuesdays (which is when the show airs when we have games on Monday nights). So I have heard a few of the Frank Martin Radio Shows this year. And literally 3 or 4 times in every show, the whole feed from Carlos O'Kelley's goes down. When this happens, the people at KMAN start playing the Wabash Cannonball until they can get the feed back up. So roughly 5 or 6 minutes of the 1 hour broadcast (minus commercials) is just the radio station blaring the Wabash. I can see how a guy who has been doing satellite interviews with all the big sports networks would get a bit frustrated when the local radio idiots can't manage to broadcast his radio show to a couple dozen regional affiliates.

It's pretty obvious KSU's media doesn't have the same level of professionalism that Frank requires of his team.
Would love to see the Stare as the engineers frantically try to get the show back on the air.

As if it needed further documentation, this is just another stain on Matt Wolters.

i'm scared to listen to it.

Recap:

Caller #1 wore their purple to Sea World (San Antonio) on Tuesday to rub Texas' fans noses in the loss.  Called to say great job.  That's pretty much it.  Her husband apparently works at the zoo.  I have no idea how that was relevant to the conversation, but she threw that in there.

Technical difficulties.  Frank tells Wyatt that it's a joke and it happens every week.  They get it back together, and Frank gets cut off again.  They dump to a Carlos O'Kelly's commercial.  After the break, they go into a couple of minutes of bad rock muzak, then they go into the fight song.  Wyatt comes back, apologizes for the break, throws out the number for the show again, and they go back to commercials.  This probably encompassed eight or so minutes before Underwood and Dalonte Hill got hooked up, threw a few comments about the Texas game out there, and they started fielding questions.

Caller #2, Lynn in Salina, basically rapes everyone's ears by rambling about Potuzak's future prospects (and asking the coaches about his chances of becoming a solid contributor), the improvement in his physique, and then Trim pretty much cut it off.

That was pretty much the entirety of Trim's 15 minute clip.  It really was KSTATEO at it's best.
