Please report back with counter claims against the media's attempt at characterizing him as a socially awkward, loner-type who loved guns/violence, anti-government websites and once praised Osama Bin Laden. Watch out for that mysterious "friend" who your cousin may not ahve spoken to in years attesting to his anti-US beliefs.
Also, look forward to one picture of him that emerges from facebook/twitter or somewhere else that shows him portraying the above said image. Watch out for unrelenting zoom ins.
