It also means this: Frank Martin deserves Big 12 Coach of the Year consideration. No, the Wildcats won't win the Big 12 like they were supposed to win it; they dug a hole too deep. But one way to prove your worth as a coach is to overcome adversity and turn a bad season good midflight, and Martin has spent the past month doing exactly that -- Monday's win at Texas serving as just the most recent example.

Wasn't K-State picked to finish 1st in the Big 12 this season?

Bilas is talking about exceeding expectations.  Frank Martin and K-State definitely haven't exceeded expectations this season.

I'm kind or partial to giving coach of the year to Tad Boyle.  I know, I know I'm not supposed to admit that after he made us all  :chainsaw: but still what he has done is impressive.  Give credit where credit is due

I think HCBS deserves it just as much as anyone else. Think about everything KU has gone through this season: injuries to Releford, Robinson, and Selby; suspensions to Selby, Little, and Taylor; and then of course the night of Jan 21, and the trip to Washington DC to Lisa Robinson's funeral. This KU team has faced a lot of adversity, yet it doesn't even show in the win-loss record. I think many of us take for granted that part of Self's job and responsibilities, but he deserves a lot of credit for keeping everyone on the same page.

If KU wins the outright Big 12 title, I'd give it to Bill Self.  His team was picked to finish 2nd in the Big 12 this season after losing two NBA lottery picks and an All-American point guard, yet KU is sitting at 27-2 and in position to win a seventh straight conference title.  You could also make a strong case for Tad Boyle at Colorado, especially if they finish 9-7 and earn a 1st round bye in the Big 12 tournament.

you should probably change your talking point and want Frank to win the big12 COY award so he'll move on from KSU and quit kicking Bill's ass all the time.

Yeah but, according to most UK fans, this years team is better without those two NBA lottery picks and an All-American point guard, so you guys should have been picked to win it outright from the beginning.  :dunno:
