I thought he played for Louisville.  Bad weekend for the Buckles family?

I don't think this one is bad news.  By my calculations this guy would have been about 190 years old so he had to have been praying for death.

iirc he was on a ship on the way to Europe when the armistice was signed.  That technically made him a vet.

He also fought in WW2, but in the Japanese theater.

He was an ambulance driver behind the lines. He never saw combat but he saw a LOT of bodies.

I'd like to get a cat now, just to name him Frank Buckles.  Would be very cute.

Seriously, though, if you have not visited Liberty Memorial near downtown KC, I would highly recommend it.  That is the National World War 1 Museum, and I can't tell you what a great experience it was to visit there.  Amazing that of all places in the country it could be, they chose to put it in Kansas City.  In addition to the museum which is in 3 separate buildings, they have a 250 foot tower you can ride up to the top of which overlooks the city (kind of like a mini Washington Monument).  I have been there twice and loved it both times.  Well worth the price of admission.
