They'll have plenty of time to retire his jersey when he's an assistant for the Cats in a couple years.

You are thinking of Spradler, not Jake.

Jake will be playing ball somewhere.  Maybe overseas, but he will be on a roster.

Jake needs to be hung from the rafters, but #30 needs to hang first.

 :opcat:

wut?

It was just a poor choice of wording.

Lol, that's exactly how I interpreted it.    :opcat:

I truly thought he was playing his way out of the rafters with the first half of the season.  Apex of that being either the suspension or CU game.  KU game has launched him back into that consideration.  Tourney run will all but solidify it.

Dax has noted that they seem to retire people by era, he has great stats overall but is clearly the leader head and shoulders above anyone for the entire Huggs/Frank era.

I would like to see the 30 up there, but I think to appease the tucks it will go up (if at all) after Jake's number.

an appropriate amount of time has gone by to allow for skipping over 1991-2006 so this should get done soon.
kinda feel like Cartier should get some consideration.  He was the rock of wooly ball and the key transition piece to huggs.

No.
if you are going by era, there is no other choice.  I'm torn about it.  He was clearly the best player then, but weaker when stacked up to the rest.

Going by era doesn't mean that every era gets some of it's players retired.  Our rafters need to respectfully take a pass on the era you are so concerned about.

larry Reid got the ball rolling in the Wolly era.  it's an injustice that he isn't up there.

If you think Cartier Martin or Manny Dies or Larry Reid or Dez Willingham or Aaron Schwarzendruber should have their jerseys retired then go start your own gotdamn thread.

This is about Jake. That's why I named the thread "Jake's jersey"  :curse:

Do you have to be an AA to get your jersey retired?

Jake was 3rd team Sporting News AA last year.

The only AP AAs (1st, 2nd or 3rd team) from KSU are Beasley(1st), Blackman (3rd), Evans (3rd), Boozer (1st&2nd), Knostman (2nd&3rd), and Ernie Barrett (2nd) according to http://www.basketball-reference.com/awards/all_america.html

Henson's will go up with Beasley's, or the year before. Haven't heard about Pullen's.

C'mon guys, Retire 30 has already come and gone with success. Retire 0 will begin in a couple years if necessary.

That seals it.  It's time to do this now when his parents will be in town, all his teammates are here and all the people that cheered him on are still in the stands.  There is no doubt.

Either do it now or wait 20 years until he's married and has kids that he wants to share it with.

my hopes have been crushed after today of mike and jakes jerseys getting up anytime soon.  I actually paid attention at half today and learned that ernie's didn't go up until something like 36 years after he took them to the final four.  gotta start moving faster than that ksu.

They just started doing it four years ago or so. They did a 2 or 3 every year until this year.

never understood why we actively worked against honoring our great players till 2005.  No sense to it.  Hopefully the tucks have figured it out and will get Jake's up there with a quickness.
