Jake's jersey
« on: February 24, 2011, 11:18:02 AM »
If we beat Mizzou that thing needs to go ahead and get strung up there in the rafters at the Iowa State game.  This month has proved it.

Didn't we do that for one of our estroballers?

Jake needs to be hung from the rafters, but #30 needs to hang first.

We have to wait to make sure he doesn't murder somebody while still enrolled.  But right after that, sure.

I wouldn't mind hanging his the same day as beaz, but the most important thing, as you pointed out, is to get that chick baller's jersey down, was it lehning's?

Agree on #30, but he needs to show up for it.  Minnesota is at Washington that night.  Would have been glorious to have him and Bill come back for Senior Night.

I truly thought he was playing his way out of the rafters with the first half of the season.  Apex of that being either the suspension or CU game.  KU game has launched him back into that consideration.  Tourney run will all but solidify it.

Dax has noted that they seem to retire people by era, he has great stats overall but is clearly the leader head and shoulders above anyone for the entire Huggs/Frank era.

I would like to see the 30 up there, but I think to appease the tucks it will go up (if at all) after Jake's number.

an appropriate amount of time has gone by to allow for skipping over 1991-2006 so this should get done soon.

kinda feel like Cartier should get some consideration.  He was the rock of wooly ball and the key transition piece to huggs.

The precedent has been set by Willie Murrell and Mitch Richmond that you don't have to be a four year player.  And Beas undoubtedly had the single greatest season for any KSU player ever.  He needs to go up.

But the precedent has also been set by the estroballer (think it was Lehning) that we can retire jerseys while the player is still active.  Mike Evans, Lon Kruger, Chuckie Willams...there's no way to argue that Jake doesn't belong with that group.

As for Cartier, how could you not also add Askia Jones?  I could probably think of a few others.  Cartier was great, but this is the elite of the elite.
