I can't believe this is actually happening.  I've been talking about it for 20 minutes.  Mrs. Hamburglar is annoyed.

Also, Schulzy rocking the purple blazer!

I had one of those for a year as a member of Steel Ring.  Wore that thing on the first Monday of every month.  Got a lot of odd looks on campus, but I didn't care.
I got a guy on the other line about some white walls

So question about phase 3.  That purple highlighted area in the horseshoe part of this image connecting the NEZ to the press box bleachers...what is that going to be?  I originally thought Phase 3 was going to be to connect the two sections with more bleachers and eventually bowl off everything, but the things they've described below don't seem to be that.  If it isn't that, then what is it?

Phase III: Student Athlete and Hospitality Amenities

--- Strength and Conditioning Center
--- Varsity Club and Seating Area
--- Recruiting Lounge
--- Video and Ribbon Board Additions
--- Distributed Sound System
--- South Stadium Fan Amenities
--- Limestone Field Wall
--- Field Perimeter Surface Upgrades

I think the real question everyone wants answered is what phase do we get lazyboys in metal scaffolding in the endzone?

My guess would be the S&C expansion and the recruiting lounge.

Friend noted after checking out the renderings on the AD's website that the plans were "Bold and Daring."

I have to agree.

I sort of am thinking to be truly be bold and darning Curry will tell Bill he has no choice but to have the team enter the field during pregame from behind a slowly rising garage door while some flunkies empty fire extinguishers at the feet of players while the pump the hip hop remix of Crazy Train through the new sound system.  Would be pretty sweet IMO.

Was kind of hoping they'd round off the bowl.   :powerespect: , I know, but was still daydreaming it.  Still very  :excited: though!

LOL. Congrats on making that grey constructor-set piece of crap look like something everybody else has had for a while now instead of a combination between the parking lot at the renaissance festival and steel shed exposition.

At least it will hide the blocky crappiness that is "do it on the cheap now" construction. With Mizzou's departure, that hole in the ground square aluminum bleacher pile may still be the ugliest and unoriginal stadium, but at least now it's not by such a huge margin.

Wait just a cotton-pickin' minute.

 :dubious: :dubious: :dubious:
Quote
Will the West Stadium Center increase the overall capacity of LHC Bill Snyder Family Stadium?
We do not project a significant impact to the overall capacity of the stadium by the construction of the West Stadium Center. While a good number of premium seats will be added, the removal of the unsightly metal bleachers currently located at the top of sections 2 and 9 will minimize the overall capacity impact. Season-ticket holders in those sections will have the opportunity to relocate to comparable seating locations.

So does that mean they're going to keep the unsightly metal bleachers currently located at the top of sections 10/11 and 18/19?

Anyone, and I mean anyone who has actually seen the outside of ku's stadium will tell you it is an a$$ ugly stadium and both sides look like something straight out of a 1950's era bomb shelter.  It's 1950's-60's, straight line concrete reinforced bomb shelter architecture at its finest.   The only side of ku's stadium that looks even remotely aesthetically pleasing is the bowl section, and when I drove by it this last summer it was in dire need of a complete power washing and paint job, it looked like crap.

The only thing that old dump has going for it is the hill.

Then, to top it all off, the build a new football facility on one end . . . out of bright brown pre-cast concrete, that doesn't match the rest of the stadium on any level.

To top it all off, they've been talking about taking out the track for 20 effing years or more, and have had drawings for a stand alone track sitting around their athletic offices for going on a decade at this juncture.

I don't remember seeing these renderings, but it would have been pretty amazing for those guys.  A coat room, wi-fi hotspot, vertical TV's, you can't say they didn't do their homework.
