what is that in the little wedge between the west bleachers and the Wabash landing? sand?

It's an erosion mesh. Up close it looks like it's been sprayed with seed and mulch so I assume there will be grass there.

The part of vanier that's exposed to the stadium does look odd. Maybe i'm just conditioned to want to see a video board on top of stuff like that, but that tiny little scoreboard just looks odd to me.

It's been confirmed that will be covered next offseason while the NE corner work is done, so I'm assuming they're just riding it out for now. As to whether it's filled with more seats or a Briggs tarp, we'll have to wait and see.
