dax addressed the problem.
Contesting was probably fine overall, but the problem was we let NU catch with space and set up shots in rhythm. Granted, on most nights just contesting shots probalby would've been enough to hold them to slighly above their average and not 67%. However, when a team gets momentum/confidence and starts hitting shots like they were you've got to do something else to take them off their rhythm and we never did that. And the weird part was that usually when this happens its one or two guys, but NU had 6 guys shoot 50% or better from 3. And 3 guys hit 67% or better, including Anderson hitting 83% and Jones hitting 75%. That's just ridiculous.
Part of that was probably due to not giving a full effort b/c the guys no doubt had in their head NU's 1-9 record and thumping by UT last weekend. Part was also probably an adjustment NU made from last time; their players talked about them using more baseline screens to get shots tonight and I would assume that was something we didn't anticipate from them going into the game.
