He's been here a billion times, clearly loves it, I don't think we need to give up yet. This is a little bit of a different deal than Kanak, who didn't visit until last summer. This staff has been recruiting Edwards since they got here.

this isn't me trying to be negative, that dude is going to OU.

What's the reasoning for you being so sure? Is he an OU fan? Do you think Clark is going to steer kids to OU now that skeletor is there?

thought this was obvious at this point but i'm a Derek Young parrot. a recent update expressed more optimism for the cats! hadn't thought about the Clark-Venables connection if there is one. that could be a thing.

Venzy played with Leon, that’s the connection.  I’ll admit I thought he would be committed by now, so maybe the OU offer wasn’t as much of a slam dunk as was previously thought.

I honestly don’t think Avery is some can’t miss prospect, I like Edwards better.

I agree that he is probably not "can't miss"

But getting a player of his perceived caliber, an in-state kid, to come be a Cat over some other options he may have, would be big for us.

I’d be happy to get him but he doesn’t have any better offers than Rubley did and I’m not sure there is any evidence he’s better as college QB.  If people are expecting him to come in and play in 2023 I just don’t think that’s realistic.

Like I said, he's established deep connections with the staff and players at K-State, the people at OU have been there for 15 minutes. If recruiting is all about relationships, OU has a long way to go, not saying they won't close the gap, but unless there was a "if they offer, I'm taking" thing in place, I think we're still, at the very least, in decent shape.

Also I don't think he, nor most all recruits, are recruiting before the summer and camp season.

Adrian Martinez will be fun this year, but I really do like Lara.

very happy to have Martinez play this year. Good to have an experienced QB with a new OC. I like Lara, and hope he's ready to play at a high level after a RS season.

Sounds like Martinez still has his eye on the NFL, hopefully he comes in motivated to play well and changes his TO stigma.

For the smart people, are we even making an attempt for Baby Randle? Obviously, I assume Edwards is the top target.

Lara’s film definitely gives me a purple boner, but I’m not crowning him yet. I just like that we seem to be trying to bring in a legit QB recruit with each class. Especially with the portal creating so much more player movement. Creates competition and it doesn’t sting as bad if one is a bust or transfers out.

Not my report. To clarify the noodle arm comment. It was said that he can throw a deep ball but he doesn't have the velocity to throw into narrow windows. I heard this on a podcast, I think it was the new guy on The Game, Troy Coverdale or Mitch Fortner.

Nah, when he steps into his throws they look to have plenty of zip to them. My biggest concern watching highlights is that he looks like he may get happy feet and not step into his throws sometimes
