The course will take an historic look at the role of the whip in disciplining slaves from Roman times, with particular attention to its use in the antebellum South. Students will get hands-on demonstrations with a focus the fundamentals of wide stance, flexed knees and arm extension needed to execute an effective whipping.

There should be a lab with that. Can you find it in the catalog? I know a protege of Self's that really wants to take it, but needs hands on training.

No way Massa teaches a class like that for anything less than 3hrs a week.  Unless of course there are multiple sections.
