It's a common idea, but people have actually started thinking about it actually happening. If you think about it, lots of movies and books revolve around the idea of computers and machines out gaining humans in intelligence. The Matrix, Terminator, I, Robot, etc. We've always considered it to be a hostile takeover and not an extension of ourselves. Either way, when it takes place, it will have an incredibly significant change on civilization.

Love thinking about this. I could talk about it for hours.

Think of how far computers have come in such a short time span. The internet in the early 90s was so crude and archaic, now tons of people have it on their person all the time. With google on your phone, there is practically no answerable question that can't be reached virtually anywhere. That is nuts. I fully expect there to be some kind of internet capable contact HUD lens in the next 10-15 years, and it will be awesome, and totally change the way humans communicate with one another.

Pacemakers and artificial limbs, and the implications of artificial body parts, blow my mind too.

Guys I can destroy anything electronic within minutes, with out even trying. I guess I have a knack for it. Like I had a Blu-ray player and broke it with in a month, didn't even break a sweat. This computers/machines thing taking over the world is crap. Too many viruses and to many electronic morons like myself who would spill gatorade and Dr pepper in your hard drive (not at the same time, gross).

Oh and in case I'm way off base on what you are talking about.
