nicname re-watches NU and praises McOrebs
« on: February 05, 2011, 12:08:05 AM »
It is really a treat to watch. He is a special player.

he's really fun to watch.  on an ordinary team, he'd be the bouncy, silky apple of everyone's eye.  but no one can compete with 95 for pure viewing enjoyment per minute.

I'm actually rewatching the NU game again on DVR right now.  Basically just following McGruder around the court.

A few things I've noticed already.

1.  He is very aware on defense, pretty much always between man and ball while sagging off enough to break for drebs.

2. He is equally aware on offense and great at finding creased through which to cut to the basket.

3.  He has been the first guy to help a teammate up, slap a high five, calm a player down.  Every opportunity so far in the game.

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

mods can you make my last post it's own thread?

At 40 seconds left in the first half McGruder makes his first "mistake," a pass with the shot clock running down that nearly get intercepted, but is tipped out of bounds.  He looks back at Frank, who is far from angry and basically tells him he did the right thing.

This kid is special.
