Wow, talk about picking the shiniest turd.

:flush:

Should I flip a coin?

No, go with the small house in the better neighborhood.

Say you’re looking for a house and know of two that meet all of your minimum criteria.  You like each of these houses a lot.  They’re each very nice.  They’re priced comparably.  One of the houses is in a fracking fantastic neighborhood.  Your neighbors would very likely be people that you get along with.  There are lots of things to do in the area.  The other house is a fracking fantastic house.  It’s much larger and high-end than you anticipated that you’d be looking at.  Its neighborhood, however, isn’t as appealing.  Really nice houses, but a location that’s little more isolated.  And you’d likely just keep to yourself in this neighborhood.

Which house do you choose and why?  Any related experiences?

Look at the house like an investment.  Take your personal wants and desires out of the equation and look at the factors that affect the value and marketability of both.  If the price of both houses is similar but one house is smaller than the other, there must be some factor(s) that cause this.  Identify what those factors might be and whether they will still be factors that will affect value and marketability when you are ready to sell the house.

But then again, I'm "usually" drunk, going to be in jail,  can't drive to work, and may or may not be able to ride a horse based upon a religious exemption, so it might not be best to consider anything I might say on the subject.

Hell I'm not hungover. I stay drunk all the time.  Its really amazing how good I have gotten at drunk driving and posting on a message board at the same time.  I'm really going to be proud when I can be featured on Oprah.

I haven't heard anything about the frog.  But I'm not in Loveland.  I do have lots of neighbor stories, though.  Have you heard about the weirdo German guy?

2 things to make a pool easy to maintain: Salt system and automatic cleaner.  If anybody needs help with a pool or wants one, let me know.

go ahead and explain pools now.

I'm at BWW (sup SD) in Mason (between WC and Loveland).  After another beer or three (lol), I'm going to start asking strangers about this rough ridin' frog business.

Guess what.  I have like at least six more neighbors.  All with stories of their own.

What would you like to know?  Pools are awesome!! Takes backyard to a new level and reduces amount of grass to mow. Great way to have spur of the moment bbq paks.  Besides, I build them to make  :kstategrad:

Re-plaster pro - looks great and will last.  Con - Very expensive. Other option is painting.  Works well if plaster is not crumbling.  good paint job still looks good and has good lifespan for fraction of cost of re-plaster.  Usability is dependent upon good pump/filter system and proper water chemistry/sanitation.  Traditional chlorine is harsh and hard to keep stable, salt-water system is automated improving ease of stabilization but is corrosive to equipment/metallic surfaces.  Best option we have found is borates. A little more expensive but a lot more stable than chlorine, not harsh on skin/equipment and much easier to maintain.  Automated cleaner is a must to cut down on maintenance time.  Most common is type tied into filtration system like Polaris or Barracuda. Best for $$ and easiest to use is electric that is separate from filtration system like the Dolphin. www.poolscapeskc.com for contact info

what's the best material to use for replastering?  i'll prob. sell the house in 5-10 years and want a dark color.  borates is just a diff. chemical that you use instead of chlorine?  it doesn't require different equipment?  how would i know if there is currently an auto cleaner, and how much should one cost if there isn't?  are all filters the same?

Any pool plaster will be fine.  Options are color and texture.  More important than the plaster used is who puts it on.  As with everything, there are good plaster guys and poor plaster guys. I work for my nephew and he knows most of the KC area plaster subs and some in Dallas area.  Also has contacts in the pool industry that can find out who to use in any area of the country.

Borates is just a different chemical to use instead of chlorine.  Very similar to the way you use chlorine but much less labor intensive and water quality is much better.  We started using when we had customer (Wichita area) with serious injuries from car accident and wanted to use pool for re-hab.  Did not cause any problems with injuries and we found pool to be much easier to maintain.  Pool owner had just bought house and had never had a pool before and had zero problems the whole season.  Uses same equipment unless you don't have some type of chlorine feeder that uses 3" tablets. If you don't have a feeder, it can run $100 - $150 installed.

You would know if you have an auto cleaner as it is a device the size of an average pumpkin that moves around in the pool.  The one we like runs $850 retail but we sell at discount closer to cost if purchased in connection with other services.

What would you like to know?

How much would you charge to re-shape a sand bottom (18x36) when installing a new liner?  And would you have checked that before you bid the job or add it in above the contract price after the work was already done?

Also, how much to install a 60-inch poolside TV by Saturday morning?
