if you've heard Frank speak on it, he says he isn't worrying or working on it until after the season.   Get over it.

public statements from either party are meaningless.

Statements by donors suggesting concerns about the trustworthiness of Currie are difficult for me to get over.

I don't know any important donors, but stories I hear on these boards make me worry too.

Currie doesn't appear to realize it, but his job is hitched to Frank's bumper. When Frank hits the road, Currie is going to get drug out of town behind him.

Here's the thing...

When we have credible reports about significant donors having serious issues with Currie's commitment to retaining Frank Martin, then we have reason to be very concerned.

These donors PAY considerable amounts of money to support KSU.  Currie gets PAID to support KSU.  Who do you believe?  I'll go with the guys with the skin in the game.

Currie knows this.

THAT's why he is efforting to portray Frank as the bad guy here.  Currie is going to low ball and slow-play Frank.  When Frank gets fed up with it and leaves for a bigger job, Currie merely announce that "we tried to get a deal done, but Frank wanted more, etc."

It's all very transparent, IMO.

Ya, because those kinds of things are in rough ridin' website links....

Did you read ANY of the posts by Jeff Martin on this subject?  I have met the people that Jeff has spoken with about this.  I've been there when Jeff conversed like old friends with these people.  Jeff's sources are above reproach....this crap is not fabricated.  You can dismiss it if you'd like, but you are doing yourself a disservice.

I agree with that. I guess it would have been more accurate had I said "Currie doesn't seem to realize the fanbase isn't as dense as he suspects and he's attached to Frank's bumper regardless of the hows and whys".

You don't let someone like Frank go.  Currie may be a dick and not know how to handle it or try to low ball, but I think that Schulz will do what it takes to retain him.  Currie may be an idiot, I dont think Schulz is much of one.

Mikeyis4dcats does not seem dense or "stupid" to me.  However, Mikey is EXACTLY the type of KSU fan that Currie is counting on...and they are the majority.  Currie knows this.

I hope you're wrong, but fear you're right. It fuckin' blows my mind that people could believe that - if a deal isn't made - that Currie "did everythign he could".

I think if there is anything that we've learned over the past 20 or so years, it's that KSU administrators and presidents don't shazbot! things up.  It's always good to have blind faith in them.

Currie is very far from being an idiot.  I think he's exceptionally bright.

I also think that he has his sights set on moving up and out of Manhattan, ASAP.  Currie isn't going to do anything that is going to tarnish that little financial flip chart that he walks around with.  By the time Currie lands his next gig, he hopes to have stabilized football to preserve the revenue stream and coasted along on basketball fumes long enough for it to appear viable.

His focus is still on basketball, and until the season ends that won't change. Not even the opportunity to extend his current contract, which athletic director John Currie is working to do, can distract him.

"If there is anyone to blame with the whole contract thing right now it's me," Martin said. "I get so entrenched with my team and the next game that I don't put in the time I need to into my contract."

But he's confident a deal will be made.

You honestly think Martin is going to on the radio waves and state that the contract negotaition is at a financial impasse?  You honestly fracking believe that?

The proof is in the pudding.  There isn't a contract.  And if the terms were met that he and his agents have requested, you honestly think that he can't be distracted for an hour to review final language with his attorneys to sign the deal and put all of this behind us?

According to everything I have been told, and from many of those I consider to be legitimate, credible sources, Frank is asking a number, one that will elevate his pay a reasonable amount for he and his assistance and Currie is trying to low ball this deal and has since this summer.
