Sooooo, Now what?

I mean, I never thought the Katz had a chance or anything, but it seams they beat the hope out of us too.  What can we expect going forward?

We go all in on our super bowl.  Push every chip out onto the table.  Other gambling analogies too.  Preparation for the rest of our season has one... single... focus.  NU home game.

This. If we lose to NU at home, I will be in a very, very bad place

I had been contemplating which game would be our super bowl this year and I think the KU game decided it for me.  We need this one at home bad. And CK better rough ridin' play, or I will lose it.

Realistic expectation:  7-9 or  8-8.  I don't see how we get to 9 wins.  Our schedule eases up a bit, but we haven't shown that we will definately win against the NU's, ISU's and OU's...so I expect losses to KU, UT and likely a few more here and there.  I would kill for a 10-11 seed but I think we're headed to the NIT.  We are mental midgets and I don't see us putting together a string of victories to lift us out of this trough.

8-8 is the absolute ceiling for the remaining  schedule.  Of the 9 games left you can cross off KU and TX so that leaves 7 possible games left to win 6.  6-10 is realistic 7-9 is optimistic and 8-8 is a pipe dream. Here's to somehow getting lucky in the Big 12 tourney

8-8 isn't a pipe dream but it is a lofty goal.  You are probably right about getting lucky in the tourney but there is NO WAY that I see for us to mentally put together 4 straight wins.

02/02/11   vs. Nebraska     Bramlage Coliseum   7:00 PM CT
02/05/11   at Iowa State    Ames, Iowa   12:30 PM CT
02/12/11   at Colorado    Boulder, Colo.   8:00 PM CT

02/14/11   vs. Kansas     Bramlage Coliseum   8:00 PM CT
02/19/11   vs. Oklahoma     Bramlage Coliseum   3:00 PM CT
02/23/11   at Nebraska    Lincoln, Neb.   8:00 PM CT
02/26/11   vs. Missouri     Bramlage Coliseum   11:00 AM CT
02/28/11   at Texas     Austin, Texas   8:00 PM CT
03/05/11   vs. Iowa State    Bramlage Coliseum   12:30 PM CT

Here's the thing, these aren't tough games.  But, we aren't good at basketball, so they are.  MU at home is also not unwinnable (actually prolly a toss up with @NU).  They didn't blow us out of their gym (relatively).  Texas will probably not lose a conference game (not counting rematching KU in tourney).  aTm can't hang with them.  They've already beat the class of the North.

FWIW, KenPom gives us a better chance of beating Missouri at home than winning at Colorado.

There has been one bad loss....home vs. CU.  Definitely got dumped on the first part of the schedule.  We shall see Wed.

if we assume that what we've seen this season is who we are (middle of the road big 12 team), then the rest of our schedule isn't all that frightening, really.

I've pretty much already transitioned back to not paying attention to basketball.  :dunno:
