hostels (general and specific)
« on: January 27, 2011, 02:42:29 PM »
thinking about going to san diego in march for a few days. i would have a free hotel room for two of the nights and then would have to pay for the remainder of however long i'd stay. thoughts on this place and on hostels in general? never stayed in one. i'm also kind of old so keep that in mind. are hostels a young persons game only? i like the idea of it though mainly since i've never done it and it could be interesting. this place also looks much above average for a hostel type place and it's also in the location that i want to be in. thoughts?

Every Comfort Suites along I-70 is amazing. Huge, massive rooms for about $100.

I'm seriously considering banning rick daris from the credit card/hotel/airline miles thread.  I mean, what the hell is this?

Check out a Kibbutz in Israel.  You can stay and eat for free as long as you work hard! ;)
Where did you get that overnight bag?

i would stay at the gaslamp westin for two nights. i would then either extend the stay there or move over to the us grant (if there is a more elite spg in the us then i'd like to see it) or go to the hostel. the hostel seems interesting because it just seems interesting. kind of like a trip inside of a trip. dunno. all three of the above places are right where i want to be and only like four blocks separates all three.

Stay at the Hotel del Coronado. Take the ferry over. Boom.

I've stayed at hostels in Chicago and Venice Beach. They were both a little different. Mainly young international people stay at them. The one in Chicago had a ping pong table.

the clean stuff doesn't bother me. i do worry about being the old guy that everyone thinks is a creep or a narc or something though and they're all whispering about me and making snide little san diego hipster comments about me that go over my head. i would not enjoy that. would this happen?

there's a hostel near the beach in santa monica.  always packed with smelly euros/asians.  gross.

Just go to the hostel. As a young person who has stayed in plenty of hostels (only abroad, never have needed to domestically) no one will give a crap about your age.

good luck sleeping with mr.chung's big toe nestled in your right nostral, and using his unwashed socks as a pillow.  meanwhile boris from the ukraine, who just got off a cargo ship that routed through the artic circle, is massaging his loins while staring at you and mr. chung

good luck, gas lamp face.
