I like san fran better because it's much prettier (ocean/beaches/bay/sweet bridges). it's too bad the people are so monochromatic.

it's crazy how small san fran is (land size) compared to KC (friggin beast)

the plaza is pretty nice!

Sounds fantastic.

The Bay just kind of seems like wasted space.  It makes it harder to live close to SF, and you can't really do anything in the Bay.  It's just a bunch of inaccessible land.

<-------Currently looking for an apartment downtown or near the Plaza.  :users:

how much can you reasonably afford to spend

Haven't really determined that yet. It's more of a short-term deal since I'll be renting with a roommate and I'm not sure if I'll want a roommate for more than a year or two. Ideally I'd get a place downtown since my office will be downtown and I'll get paid mileage for every mile that I drive to a client site over the mileage it takes me to get to work.

There are LOADS of secret societies in Kansas City.  LOADS.  I am a member of three, myself.  Clams is pretty much the expert on them.   His uncle wrote a book about them, and it's in the Library of Congress.

That's what makes the Bay great.

I have honestly thought about this. Can't decide if it would be better to just go with the first wave, or not.

I have only spent time in colorado springs twice but both times it seemed like junction city with closer mountains.

i lived there for a year. it's basically a less nice version of omaha populated by a town or super mega religous jeffys at the base of a mountain that i repeat...cannot even be skied on. no thanks.

I lived in Boulder for a year. It's pretty much the exact opposite of Colorado Springs. I'd much prefer Colorado Springs for various reasons. Either way, I'd choose anywhere in Colorado within view of mountains over Kansas, Nebraska, or Missouri. Weather alone pretty much makes it a no brainer for me.

view of mountains has nothing to do with weather fyi. you are talking topography. an interesting way to choose where you want to live, but to each his own.

ew2x4 is reminding me of the 1%er Beaumont Cat thread.  He isn't coming off looking quite as bad as that guy, but he's not looking good.

State Line road is on the Kansas/Missouri state line.

Yet State Avenue runs east/west in KS and turns into 24/40.  :surprised:

and if you take 24 west long enough, you can drive directly to ew2x4's house and hang out with him and all the other religous nutsos at the base of some mountain that you can't even ski down.

It mainly had to do with nothing being in eastern colorado. But yes, being near mountains matters. It's called altitude. There's less humidity. Less rain. More snow. Cooler summers. I prefer this. Especially the no humidity part. Humid summers in Kansas are hell to me. But I don't even need an AC here.

Plenty of things downtown.  Most of them don't have annoying signs to reel in the n00bs, though.
