Your go-to move to get out of tickets?
« on: January 24, 2011, 10:11:22 AM »
I got my first ever ticket when I was a freshman. A campus police officer got me going 31 mph in a 20 at 2 a.m. when school wasn't even in session. I argued with him and told him that I felt like I was going 27. "No way was I going 31," I kept saying. "I'll give you 27. You can write the ticket for 27. But no way was I going 31. You're wrong."

Of course, that didn't go over too well.

Since then, I've been running hot. I've gotten a streak of warnings for various traffic infractions — everything from speeding to forgetting to turn my headlights on (oops) to having my high beams on (oops again) to making an improper U-turn to speeding again to speeding again.

I've got a few go-to moves, but here's my best: If it's dark outside, put your dome light on and then hold your arms up above your head or out the window. The officer will ask, "Why do you have your hands up?" Then you reply: "Well, just for your safety and mine."

The officer will be so appreciative of your precautionary gesture that he will let you off with a warning.

OK, that was a lie. The officer accused him of trying to pull some kind of karate move.

Then he went back to his car and wrote a ticket.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

Learn the name of one of the officers in your local police force, and tell the guy that pulled you over that he is your uncle.

Ask him/her why they didn't go to college and get a real job if they were so smart about how fast everyone was driving

I've gotten pulled over 5-10 times and only got out of 2 tix - one because he didn't get a chance to grab his radar or something (I slammed on my brakes when I saw him - don't do that). I've tried everything Amd nothing works (my tits aren't as perky and supple as they used to be)

crap your pants.  Seriously... crap your pants and try working up some tears before they get to you.  Tell them you were trying to get to a toilet.

Tell them you had a bet with your girlfriend;  if you got home first, you get to PIITB.  If she wins, you have to go out with her & her grandma for dinner.   If he doesn't give you a police escort home, that rough rider wasn't going to let you out no matter what.

pfft...they see my perfect driving record and give me a warning so they don't eff it up.

Honestly on I-70 going East you need a good grandma at the airport story.

Also, a lot of times I get off with warnings without doing anything.

I was a DD my freshman year and got pulled over and pulled into Dara's on Denison I got pulled over for 35 in a 20.  I smelled like beer because A girl spilled it on me as we were heading to the car.  I had to do the whole walk the line say the alphabet, stand on one foot, touch your nose etc...  Then the breathalizer.  Passed all and got a nice ovation from the upper floors of Goodnow hall, as I got back into my vehicle.  Did not get a ticket and the female officer even applogized  :surprised:
