He's got the Valley pedigree. He wasn't even good his last season there.

Or is he a SLTH?

recruits ok. wins. is at a school with a decent bball budget.

same thing that separates all non-slth coaches from slth coaches.

Yeah, hiring an AAU coach to obtain a recruit pretty much eliminates you from SLTH-dom.

Turg also played for a big time program. Most SLTHs did not.

Made it to the second round the last four years, with a Sweet 16 appearance in 2007. Not very SLTHish, IMHO.

As has been noted, SLTH status is determined when the prospective SLTH is a coaching candidate, not when he's a coach.

True. Taking a mid-major to the Sweet 16 eliminated Turg from SLTH status when he was hired at aTm. JMHO.

Why would it? According to conventional wisdom, nothing says solidness like success at a mid-major.

Most of these definitions amount to nothing but SLTH = a guy just like Wooldridge. The concept is so much broader than that.

running second/third best program in state considered rousing success
has complained about "youth"/"injuries"
mediocre record despite huge investment

Non-SLTH-

AAU aware
possibly slimy
pretty good recruits
talent/underachiever as opposed to no talent/overachiever
has facilities/budget
other coaches dislike him/rarely praised for SLTHy things

Would like some more discussion about what the destination job says about the coach? Can a coach be a SLTH in non-SLTH clothing? For a big time AD is a Frank Solich/Turgeon a SLTH? Lot's of discussion/definitions that need to be revisited and delineated here.
