This one hurts because the effort was there.
« on: January 22, 2011, 03:23:47 PM »
I feel bad for these guys.  I'm pretty sure ck knows that he made this bed.  Jake as well.  Like _Fan said after @MU, these are tough games to win, it is the earlier losses (Vegas, @OSU, CU that are killing us).  Hopefully a nice win at home gives us some momentum.  If the Cats are going to win games it will have to be in games like today. It has to be ugly, defense, and we will have to limit posessions.  The last part sucks because it really is slth like but our weaknesses in wide open, transition basketball are huge.

Not a moral victory at all, really a crushing blow and hopefully it doesn't discourage a team that I saw give a lot of fight today.

This one hurts because we're better than A&M. If this would have been earlier when we were cocky, no contest.

We gave this game away. aTm is solid, but our dumb play and wasted chances cost us. Plus 2 more mentally weak stretches and double digit runs. This has become the season of dumb decisions and wasted opportunities.

When you hold the home team to 0 fgs for a 6 minute stretch in the second half and cant capitalize there are definitely wasted opportunities on your own end.

It still sucks.  Meanwhile UT is getting "Allen Fieldhoused."

Playing with a little effort means nothing when everyone on the team is stupid and plays like it.

Well... I'll say this. The seniors finally played like seniors tonight, and this was maybe the best overall defensive effort we've had all year. It was really the lack of options on offense (McGruder, where are you?) and the fact that we couldn't keep our mits off in the 2nd half. Maybe the fact that we are overall a young, inexperienced team could account for most of it.

It's frustrating, because we could've had this game and if we hope to get to the NCAA we're going to have to win a few of these from here on out, but it felt a lot more like a hard fought game than a stupid loss.

I have a feeling this is tongue-in-cheek, but if not it holds a lot of water.  Positivity is key to winning in sports.

kstate sucks at rebounding free throws (defensive).  they did great dboarding against a&m's offense but were just crap on the line.  i won't say they gave the game away there, but it certainly had an impact.

this isn't a one game issue, they've been bad before, but i don't recall a team that exploited it as well as a&m.

Three possession with about 3 to go when we were tied or down by 2. Lazy, stupid pass for a breakaway layup A&M managed to miss, offensive foul on Samuels and can't remember other possession. No points, no shots. Killed us.

At this point barring a miracle, we are going to the NIT.  8-8 (probably get us in) would be really, really tough.

I refuse to believe this. I mean, I'm not arguing with it. I just refuse to believe it.  :frown:

Well the problem is not having him and Jake for 6 and 3 games.  You have those guys for those games and things probably look differently right now.  Its almost for sure we would've won UNLV and CU, and perhaps at OSU without the suspensions.  Really.

Then who knows what kind of confidence we are playing at now instead of fighting for our lives.

Seriously. What the hell was Kelly doing when he'd spin around the guy and get behind him, then spin back? I thought it was some cool, new technique, and then I realized he wasn't getting a single rebound.
