From the Xavier Rivals site:

"Alex Etherington - Indiana Elite 17u SF: High major coaches see Etherington as someone that could be a nice role player at the highest level or a really good, and instant impact, player at a good mid-major program. Over the weekend he played well enough that he should get more high major interest. Etherington is a very good slasher that can make plays off the dribble at 6-foot-6. He's got deceptive athleticism and explosiveness around the rim while having a strong build as well. His handle is good enough for him to play either guard spot, and he's really aggressive in trying to drive to the rim and draw fouls. Etherington is a good, not great, shooter who has a nice stroke from the line but doesn't seek out a ton of perimeter jumpers. Defensively he oozes toughness and is one of the more competitive players on the AAU circuit. Kansas State is recruiting him the hardest right now but Xavier is interested, as are several in-state high majors."

Lot of scollys to offer in this class(looking like 5 right now), they can't all be stars. It's a way down the road but if this kid ends up being the headliner in this class, then yeah, that would be pretty  disappointing but this kid sounds solid and has been steadily improving since his rough injury during his SO year.

I guess, at this point, based on what we know, I'd be good with the following class:

PG - Hunter
SG/SF - Ojeleye
SG/SF - Etherington
PF - Pryor
C - Miller

PG - Harris(kid from DFW)?

Harris does sound pretty solid, we'll see how much progress we can make there.

Don't forget about Alvin Ellis, he was about the 1st player the new staff offered for '13. Sounds pretty similar to Etherington, blue collar wing with enough athleticism to make plays when given the opportunity. He plays on a loaded Meanstreets AAU team so he doesn't put up big #'s, but they are a very tough team and he knows his role with them.

Yeah, I meant Harris.  I had a 7 AM meeting, so I'm kind of tired already.  I doubt we get him, and we get someone like Davis instead, but whatever.

I do like Ellis.  But, I don't know, gut feel says Etherington is a guy we'd probably take a chance on first due to his potential upside if he keeps improving post-injury. That's the kind of value player you can sneak in on and maybe he has a high ceiling.

I would be shocked if we ended up with Ojeleye at this point.  His offer list, if real, is pretty legit.  Also, someone posted that Duke was looking at him now.  I would assume that a fam that is so into academics would pick Duke.

Our chances with Semi are a hell of a lot better than they were 6 weeks ago. They went from ZERO to whatever they are now.

No question he's a big time, highly coveted recruit. It will be tough but there's a chance.

I think any time a staff makes him your number one priority (as this staff has), it will help.

Obviously, the Ojeleye family has a preference for KSU.  That includes his parents, which, again, also helps.

Sounds like AB3 was in Houston at an AAU tourney this past weekend. Can't really point to any specific prospects he was scouting, probably the main idea was to get the KSU name out there in that area. Manroop Claire(from Canada) does sound like a decent under the radar prospect:

"A couple of years ago Pastner took a step back from the summer circuit, but now he's back with several events under the BIGFOOT HOOPS moniker.  This weekend Pastner and his team held the HTown Classic which is an NCAA Certified event open to all Division I coaches.  Over 100 teams from Texas, Indiana, Florida, Minnesota, and as far as Canada all signed up to take advantage of the exposure.  And there have been plenty of coaches flocking to Houston to eye the talent.  Schools such as UCLA, Oregon St., Gonzaga, and Kansas St. just to name a few manned the sidelines ready to take notes."

"Manroop Claire 6'3 SG Drive Basketball(Huntington Prep)
Last July was when we stumbled upon Claire after he showed Duke bound Rasheed Sulaimon that he could go the distance and put a team on his back.  The Canadian is a high energy guard that's fun to watch as he dance around on the court with the ball just before he elevates for a jumper.  Yesterday Claire suffered a deep cut that required stitches on his non shooting hand causing him to miss most of the second half as hi team lost.  Today was a different day as the sharp shooter shook it off and went for 28 in a morning win.  Look for Claire's recruiting to heat up as the summer continues.  The guard could always create off the dribble, but know its looking like he is creating and making better decisions."

From Kline, KSU just offered Sam Singer, 6'3" 185 combo G from Miami. His Gold Coast AAU Club won last weekend's H-Town classic referenced in the above post:

"Sam Singer (2013 G Gold Coast):  Sam Singer led his squad to the title this weekend. Singer is a 6’5 point guard who can score, but also set his teammates up well. Sam is working on his defense and his athleticism, but offensively he possesses a unique skill set for a point guard his size. Sam is hearing from Stanford, Virginia, Alabama, Wake Forest, Penn St, Boston College, and Miami."

He was one year, the season before this one, iirc.  We had an open one and gave it to him.

good for semi.  i can't imagine getting to go to such a prestigious school, for free, and  playing for the best coach of all time.  and, since he'll be going to our sister school, it's like he basically signed with us.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

Good for him.  Bad for Cat fans.
