Did you see my note on small towns?  I mean  sure I will be able to drive to overland park to get it(abt 25min) but in a town that runs on Busch, Coors, and bud light, Wal-Mart will probably grab up all those sales due to price, and  leave the guy next door trying to pay rent without selling much of that.  Good luck in a blue collar town, imo.

I wasn't directly referring to you, but I think a  town large enough for a wal mart would have a market for a stand alone liquor store that has craft beer. My local Safeway has a huge selection of craft beer, and the other local chains have decent options. In just about every small town California gas station you have some selection of craft beer. I don't know why that would be significantly different in Kansas.

In smaller towns than that, the grocery stores will likely be approachable enough to take requests. When my mom found out she had a gluten allergy, she just talked to a manager who would stock about whatever she wanted.

It will at least change the way it is shopped for by some(me at least) in that I rarely know what I am looking for.  I go in and see what they have that is new.

Again, I think is it silly to let walmart sell it but not have it delivered to my door after ordering over the internet.

It would be a lot more difficult to verify age that way.

The glass is always half full in KSUW's world.

But really, cannot wait to see the look I get when I ask some dipshit at my local Hen House where they keep the EH Taylor Single Barrel.

Which is why good liquor stores will do just fine. Will this law also allow liquor stores to sell non-alcohol items? That would only be fair.

It's my understanding that liquor stores will be allowed to sell mixers and "snacks".

I honestly don't care about this very much since booze purchases don't count towards Dillons Fuel Points.

The token they're throwing the liquor stores as a goodbye present for years of anti-competitive protection is that big boxes will have to purchase their retail license from an existing store.

Most of the liquor store owners whining about this putting them out of business should probably be thanking the state for propping their shitty businesses for so many years. There are a lot of crap liquor stores that exist because there's no dollar general or Walmart convenient.

I'd be OK with this if they made the driving age 21. I've said this many times, teenagers are freaking morons.

Both should be higher.

http://cjonline.com/news/2015-02-12/opponents-weigh-expanded-liquor-sales

Quote
The legislation would allow grocery stores to sell full-strength beer, as well as wine and liquor. Convenience stores would also be allowed to sell full-strength beer. But the number of liquor licenses would be capped, requiring grocery stores that want to increase their alcoholic options to purchase a license — and boosting the value of the licenses held by liquor stores.

In addition, liquor stores would be allowed to sell nonalcoholic products.

Under current law, grocery and convenience stores may sell 3.2 percent alcohol malt beverages. Liquor stores are also not allowed to sell nonalcoholic products.

The problem with the bill is the liquor license cap. It makes the license valuable enough for a small-time store owner to cash out by selling to Dillon's and retiring. But you can be sure that no individual could ever offer enough money to buy an existing license from an entity like Dillon's, so no new mom & pop liquor stores could ever come into existence.

I live in Missouri and they sell booze everywhere. Price Chopper, CVS, Quick Trip, everywhere. There are also many successful liquor stores open near my house. Liquor store owners will just have to adapt.

I think the quality and selection of liquor stores on the KS side of the KC metro is much greater than the MO side. Not that I didn't take advantage of Midnight runs to the grocery store for booze on many occasions.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Go to a Berbiglia, any of them, and look into the future of liquor sales in KS. They're shitty.

I do that all the time and have been curious to find the Price Choppers out south all have inferior selection to the Price Choppers & Hy-Vee's in Brookside and even Lee's Summit, etc.  Also, the selection at Target & Walmart at 135th & Stateline is underwhelming.  World Market is BITB for good value wine and has a decent selection of somewhat overpriced beer but nothing is cold.

wineries can ship wine to Kansas now, UPS does requires someone that is 21 sign for it tho.  Is this not an option if you want to ship beer or spirits?

Last I checked, no.  It has be accepted by someone with a license, who then can charge you basically any sort of a handling fee.

Even gifted guns.  I had a shotgun shipped from pops sent to the Bullet Hole, they didn't charge me
