Quote from: CNS on February 18, 2015, 08:31:26 AMDid you see my note on small towns? I mean sure I will be able to drive to overland park to get it(abt 25min) but in a town that runs on Busch, Coors, and bud light, Wal-Mart will probably grab up all those sales due to price, and leave the guy next door trying to pay rent without selling much of that. Good luck in a blue collar town, imo. Sent from my KFTT using TapatalkI wasn't directly referring to you, but I think a town large enough for a wal mart would have a market for a stand alone liquor store that has craft beer. My local Safeway has a huge selection of craft beer, and the other local chains have decent options. In just about every small town California gas station you have some selection of craft beer. I don't know why that would be significantly different in Kansas. In smaller towns than that, the grocery stores will likely be approachable enough to take requests. When my mom found out she had a gluten allergy, she just talked to a manager who would stock about whatever she wanted.

Again, I think is it silly to let walmart sell it but not have it delivered to my door after ordering over the internet.

Will this law also allow liquor stores to sell non-alcohol items? That would only be fair.

Separate point, but the age limit should be changed as well (same with gambling)
The token they're throwing the liquor stores as a goodbye present for years of anti-competitive protection is that big boxes will have to purchase their retail license from an existing store. Most of the liquor store owners whining about this putting them out of business should probably be thanking the state for propping their shitty businesses for so many years. There are a lot of crap liquor stores that exist because there's no dollar general or Walmart convenient.
The legislation would allow grocery stores to sell full-strength beer, as well as wine and liquor. Convenience stores would also be allowed to sell full-strength beer. But the number of liquor licenses would be capped, requiring grocery stores that want to increase their alcoholic options to purchase a license — and boosting the value of the licenses held by liquor stores. In addition, liquor stores would be allowed to sell nonalcoholic products.Under current law, grocery and convenience stores may sell 3.2 percent alcohol malt beverages. Liquor stores are also not allowed to sell nonalcoholic products.
I live in Missouri and they sell booze everywhere. Price Chopper, CVS, Quick Trip, everywhere. There are also many successful liquor stores open near my house. Liquor store owners will just have to adapt.
I drove a mile to mo liquor store instead of three blocks to the one by my house in ks because the selection was better

The cap is really stupid. That said, I will probably go file for a liquor license today the low ball the locals to walmart.
Last I checked, no. It has be accepted by someone with a license, who then can charge you basically any sort of a handling fee.

Go to a Berbiglia, any of them, and look into the future of liquor sales in KS. They're shitty.
