The ones I have seen are about 50% split btwn fat/old and normal not old.  I imagine it has a lot to do with where you are seeing them.

Also, a large majority of the street bikes I see are in the same fat/old crowd.  :dunno:

I think before anyone buys a bike they should consider what they look like from the next car over's perspective.  I mean, a bike could be for men what pants that make a woman's ass look big are to women.

people who want a vehicle that handles like a car but still crave the risk of dying like on a motorcycle.
yeah, it appears to combine a lot of the negatives of the two types of vehicles with only a few of the positives

pros
  • People with poor balance don't have to worry about falling over.
  • Great gas mileage.
  • Probably makes you feel like you are going really fast.

cons
  • It's not any safer than riding a motorcycle.
  • It doesn't look like it handles as well as a motorcycle.
  • You can't have thin skin because biker dorks will make fun of you.
  • You will still need to own a car if you don't like the idea of freezing your balls off in the winter or getting soaked whenever it rains.
that's a pretty good list but is missing two of the bigger cons, no lane splitting and reduced parking advantage

  • It's not any safer than riding a motorcycle.
to me, this is the biggest one.  I assume most people who buy them have little to no riding experience and will not wear as much gear as they would on a normal motorcycle.  Same goes with scooters, it is remarkable that Pete was wearing a full face helmet on his, most scooter riders go with sunglasses and flip-flops.

The first choice is what type of bike you want and go from there. Take the msf regardless of choice.
