however, i think the edge goes to Mack over Bobby for playing in a tougher conference.  a much tougher conference.  in the division considered the toughest in football for most of his tenure.
almost.  Having grown up in FL as an FSU fan I can say that is not the case.  FSU played Miami and UF in their non-com when they were winning big time.  They also regularly played Notre Dame and the rest of the ACC wasn't as dog shitty as it is now.

they played ND twice during that stretch plus once in the Orange Bowl.  Boise plays a tough non con too but that doesn't make the conference schedule any stronger.

eh what are you going to do.  At one point FSU had an O-line bigger than all NFL teams but the Raiders and a couple others.  facepalm for scouts who thought he couldn't see over the line.

The ACC hasn't been great, at least than G-Tech had a Heisman hopeful, NCState wasn't dog crap.  FSU had a much harder non-com which more than made up for the weakness of the ACC.  To say its comparable to the foes BSU faces is silly.  Now there is a legit argument that Mack played a harder conference schedule year in year out.  Post season play and noncom is clearly in FSU's favor.

Great stuff. What else can you tell us about Florida State University's teams of the 1990s?

It was actually much more dog shitty than it is now, in terms of FSU's strength of schedule.

I thoroughly enjoyed this (not my pic)

Not sure the Nebraska swim team or whatever I was sitting behind enjoyed my incessant tomahawk chopping.
