I hope I'm wrong!

Note I didn't say we would become the Steelers, just that our season results would become more Steelers-like. If we draft incredibly well, we can avoid that perhaps, but we've missed a fair bit in the last 2 drafts. There's no cap room to both resign guys and add guys. How is this roster going to get better?

Randomly came across this little nugget about Otis Taylor and Jack Del Rio that made me LOL.

Quote
In August 1987, Del Rio was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for a fifth round draft choice,[9] reuniting him with former Saints defensive coordinator John Paul Young. He started nine games at right outside linebacker, tallying 45 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble.

That season the NFL players went on strike in September, after week two. Throughout this period of time, Del Rio and teammates picketed outside of Arrowhead Stadium and were vigilantly watching for replacement players attempting to enter the facility. He mistakenly mistook former Chiefs wide receiver Otis Taylor for a replacement player and assaulted him. At the time, the 45-year-old Taylor was a scout for the Chiefs organization and had been retired for twelve years. Taylor later pressed charges and the two eventually settled out of court.[10]

The Chiefs trading Thuney for a 4th round pick is not something I saw coming.

Just saw this. Makes sense from an age and money perspective, but giving up one of your best O lineman directly after your entire O line got thrashed in the Super Bowl is def something.

Per Spotrac, they're now a Mahomes salary conversion away from 38m in cap space.  That might get them Bolton, a Brown-level WR, and put us in the mix for Robinson or Staley at LT (I wouldn't rule out a trade for LT).  It looks like they will try to extend Smith now so, while I don't expect a much cheaper deal than the tag, I expect them to have more options to spread the money around beyond this year.  Then they can restructure some Jones or Kelce money to fill in the cracks.  I would like to restructure Taylor but I sure don't want to sign up for more years of him.

I don't see them re-signing Bolton.  I wouldn't mind them giving Brown another 1 year deal since Rice is to likely be suspended quite a few games.

Any tackle prospects that they might trade up for?

Personally, the LT prospect I would be targeting in this draft is Josh Simmons, if we want to make a move for a guy. He has the talent level you are looking for and he could be available in a reasonable range. Obviously, he has the concerns coming off an injury and he might not be 100% until his second year. A guy with his talent level is never going to be available to the Chiefs if he is fully healthy, so to get his talent you have to take that risk.

The other guys just don't seem worth trading up for. Josh Conerly could maybe be worth trading up for.

If we want a truly developmental prospect, we could look at Aireontae Ersery, but that would be by trading back.

If he's willing for a contract that is 1 year barely above vet minimum with lots of incentives than sure

I think TLBL would be good for Worthy and I would be plenty happy to have him for under $5m.  We would still need to add a bigger contributor at WR, imo, which is part of the challenge.
